Principal Dowling's Message

Dear Bailey’s Upper Families,

I hope this letter finds you all in great spirits and health. My name is Holly Dowling, and I am honored to introduce myself as your new principal. I have been lucky enough to spend this week getting to know our amazing students and staff. Walking the halls I have been greeted by students with enthusiasm, joy, lots of questions, and some pretty good handshakes. Each interaction has only reinforced my newfound belief that this is the best school in Fairfax County!

This week I have spent time meeting with individual and small groups of staff members and I have been impressed by the commitment, professionalism, and passion each staff member brings to our school. I open most conversations with, “What do you love about Bailey’s?” and an overwhelming number of responses have been, “The kids!” Our staff shared with me how much they love the support from the families, the arts program, bilingual education, and the ability to work with amazing students each day. I am grateful for their warm welcome and for the insights they have shared with me about our school's strengths and opportunities for growth.

Next week I plan to meet with small groups of students in a Principal Round Table, to get their feedback on what they love about our school, what they could change with a magic wand, and their hopes and dreams. I will share this insight with all of you next week. I can not wait to hear what they think!!!

I am looking forward to more opportunities to engage with all of you, our families. You are the heart of what makes this school an amazing place and I look forward to collaborating with you to support your children.

Over the next few weeks I am working with Ms. Dews to schedule a few ‘meet the principal play dates’ over at Bailey’s Primary. I will share those dates and times as soon as I have them. Until then please feel free to reach out via email, phone, or Talking Points with questions, concerns, or just to tell me about your child. Together, we can create a nurturing and dynamic environment where every student can thrive.

Thank you for the warm welcome and for making my first few days as your principal memorable.

Warm regards,

Holly Dowling, your proud principal!
