We're welcoming our new principal, Chris Smith (starting July 1st), City Schools Superintendent Jeff Platenberg, School Board Chair Carolyn Pitches, and Fairfax High School (FHS) principal, Dr. Georgina Aye. Dr. Aye will share insights on transitioning from middle school to 9th grade at FHS and how to set your child up for success.

The PTA hosted a Staff Appreciation Luncheon ("LETTUCE Show Our Appreciation") last week, which was a huge success! Staff members enjoyed a delicious salad with a variety of topping options and lively conversation. There was even a raffle (see picture for some lucky winners!). A big shout out to everyone who donated, helped with the setup and cleanup, and made this event possible.

It is that time of the year when our Johnson MS PTA needs our community to serve on the KJMS PTA Board for the school year 2024-25. It is a one-year term and incumbents can extend to stay in office for one more year. The following roles are to be filled urgently for the PTA to remain functional. The current officers have rising 9th graders; all officer positions are open for next school year:
President - Preside over all meetings of this local PTA and coordinate the work of the officers and committees of the PTA.
Vice President - Hospitality and events act as an aide to the president leading and managing all hospitality and events such as Staff Appreciation, 7th/8th grade party etc. and perform other delegated duties as assigned.
Treasurer - Handles and oversight of all funds and finances for the local PTA, keep full financial records to include an accurate account of receipts and expenditures as directed in the bylaws. Make disbursements as authorized by the president, executive board, or general membership in accordance with the budget adopted by the general membership.
Secretary - Record the minutes of all meetings of the local PTA and perform other duties as assigned.
Please consider a position with the PTA so great activities and contributions to the school may continue!
