Specials:  Physical Education (PE)

During the fourth quarter in PE classes students in grades Kindergarten through 4th had a special visit from Elite Martial Arts Academy. These wonderful instructors led a PE class and walked the students through a typical Martial arts class.

All students in KDG- 6th grade practiced their foot skills during the next unit and learned about dribbling and passing skills used in soccer. All students had the challenge of not using their hands during the unit and they really had to put their foot skills to the test. We also had a day where students had to use their feet only to complete different cone flip challenges and use their critical and creative thinking skills.

All students in KDG- 6th also participated in fitness stations and practiced different exercises. Students in 4th , 5th, & 6th grade participated in functional fitness testing. This included the balance challenge, plank challenge, sit and reach challenge, shoulder stretch challenge and the step challenge. All students practiced running the Pacer test which is a VA wellness fitness test.

Our next few weeks of PE classes will be preparing for field day and practicing outdoor games that students can play outside of school during the summer.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

People with ancestral roots in Asia and the islands of the Pacific have been integral to the story of America. In 1992, May was designated Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month to celebrate their heritage and contributions. Our Crocs have been learning about contributions from Asian American and Pacific Islanders on the morning news.
