A few amazing highlights that happened this week...
Fourth grade students problem solved using Keva Planks.
Our Scotties are smiling even when it rains almost daily!
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow. We All Belong Here!
As we approach the end of the school year, it’s important for students to stay engaged, attend school, and finish strong! Visit our website for attendance resources. We are continuing to share weekly absenteeism updates through the end of the year. As of May 17, 2024, Bonnie Brae's absenteeism rate is at 14.2%. This is an increase from last week. Be sure to send your child to school when healthy, and help us decrease our overall percentage of students who are considered chronically absent (as a reminder, chronic absenteeism is missing 10% or more of days in a school year, regardless of excused or unexcused).
Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast!
Have you volunteered to chaperone, work in the library, support a classroom, prepare materials, or help with classroom events?
Come celebrate with us on Thursday, May 30, from 8:30-9:15 AM in the cafeteria! We are partnering with the PTO to provide this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful volunteers. For planning purposes, volunteers are asked to please RSVP at this link to share their intentions for the event.
Memorial Day Holiday
All schools and offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, for the Memorial Day holiday. Learn about the history of Memorial Day. See the complete school year calendar.

Bonnie Brae Bookmobile
Bonnie Brae Elementary School (BBES) will continue the Bonnie Brae Bookmobile to provide books to students during Summer 2024. The Bonnie Brae Book Mobile will run on June 27, 2024 from 12 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. and July 18, 2024 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and will be stopping at four locations in the community, with the last stop being the BBES parking lot, to distribute books and popsicles to interested students.
Please consider making a donation of a new or gently used book(s). New and/or gently used books will be collected May 20, 2024 through June 10, 2024 in the foyer at Bonnie Brae ES. There will be labeled boxes to leave the books. Questions or suggestions? Please contact Karen Radcliffe at keradcliffe@fcps.edu.
SOL Testing at Bonnie Brae
Spring Standards of Learning (SOL) standardized tests in reading, mathematics, and science take place in May. The FCPS Grade Level Tests webpage provides information by grade level about the general assessment schedule and reporting method for each required assessment type in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). If you have questions about SOLs, contact your child's teacher or Natalie Vershaw, school test coordinator.
