🐝Hornet Happenings

teacher appreciation sidewalk chalk message

Hello Halley Families!

Thank you for the most wonderful teacher and staff appreciation week. We truly felt the love and are so grateful to work alongside our amazing Halley community. Thank you, PTO, for providing a delicious luncheon from the Coyote Grill Food Truck!  It was really special, and we loved it!!!

As we approach the end of the school year, our hornets are eagerly anticipating a host of fun end-of-year activities. It's a time to celebrate their achievements, growth, and the wonderful community we've built together.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making our school such a vibrant and nurturing environment for our students and staff.

A Reminder and a Wish…

With a warm heart, we wish a very Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms and mother figures in our students' lives!  We hope you have a beautiful and relaxing weekend!

Blessings and Joy,

Mrs. Peerman, Mrs. Johnson-Tyler, and Ms. Hubbard

Required Immunizations for Rising 7th and 12th Graders

Immunizations are required for all students entering 7th and 12th grades this fall. Visit the FCPS immunization webpage to learn about the required vaccines.  Caregivers should ask their private healthcare provider or the health department to review their student's immunization record to ensure that their student has received these required immunizations.

It is important to schedule immunizations early in the summer, as seventh grade students must submit documentation of the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines before they begin school in August. Twelfth grade students must submit documentation of the Meningococcal vaccine. Get more information on all student immunization requirements.

Family Input for Class

Placements 2024-2025

2024-2025 Class Placement - Family Input Form

As we begin to plan for the 2024-2025 school year, we are inviting your input. Creating class assignments requires careful consideration and the involvement of many perspectives and variables. We know a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success. Should you have additional information about your specific child that school staff may not know, particularly regarding learning style and classroom environment; we ask that you please complete the 2024-2025 Class Placement - Family Input Form  no later than Monday, May 13, 2024.  This is a hard deadline.

If you have more than one child attending Halley, please complete one form per child.  We ask that you do not request specific teachers or friendship pairings and keep to the information shared about your child and the type of learning environment you feel would be the most productive. We assure you that with or without a form, each child’s strengths and needs are considered. As in the past, families will receive class placement notification just prior to school starting.

It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Eligible children can also be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps us plan, so that we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.

We are happy to support families with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For more information in other languages, visit FCPS’ Kindergarten Registration webpage.

Resources for Newly Registered FamiliesBeing connected to your school community helps you stay informed and support your child’s success. Take some time to get familiar with the many resources and tools available to FCPS families, including:
