Haycock Hello 5.13.24

appreciation

 Dear Haycock Families,

We hope that all our moms had a Happy Mother's Day yesterday.

A heartfelt thank you to the PTA and the many parent volunteers who treated our staff to a wonderful week of appreciation last week.  The lunch, breakfast, desserts and snacks were amazing. It all meant a great deal to our Haycock staff.❤️

It was great to see all the students who walked, biked, or rolled to school or to the bus stop last Wednesday.  We were joined by Fairfax County Supervisor James Bierman who greeted our students when they arrived and helped us hand out stickers.

Every year, we ask for parent input as we begin work on class placements for next year. We do not take teacher requests but we do take into consideration information that parents share about their student when we are creating classes for next year so that we set every student up for success.  If you would like to provide input, which is optional, please complete this form no later than this Friday, May 17, 2024

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu

Heather Boyd, AP  HABoyd@fcps.edu

Krystal Styles, AP  krstyles@fcps.edu

Seeking Friends for Speedy

Our Keep it Green Cougars along with Mr. Baker and Ms. Sklar have put into place many green initiatives at Haycock and have turned Speedy's courtyard into a sustainable ecosystem.

We are looking for an adult red eared slider turtle to join Speedy, along with a few more toads and frogs.  If you have any leads or can assist us with this effort, please email Mr. Baker Jabaker1@fcps.edu or Ms. Sklar  jsklar@fcps.edu . Here is a link to more information about toads and frogs that would work in the pond area.  American Bullfrogs would not work since they would eat our smaller fish and frogs. We also plan to check with pet adoption agencies and the exotic wildlife vet.
