Mrs. Dougherty to retire

Dear Cedar Lane School Community,

I am writing to announce that after 24 years of working in Fairfax County Public Schools, Mrs. Dougherty will retire at the end of this school year.  Mrs. Dougherty has been an integral part of our school community for 15 years. Her dedication and passion for supporting our students and teachers have made a forever lasting impact on our school.  Throughout her time at Cedar, she has worked tirelessly to ensure that all students, regardless of their abilities, have access to an appropriate education and the support they need to succeed. She has been a strong advocate for our students and worked closely with teachers, parents, and outside agencies to build meaningful relationships. Mrs. Dougherty is a source of inspiration for many of our staff members, always willing to lend a listening ear or offer guidance and support. Her dedication to our students and her commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment have set a high standard.

As Mrs. Dougherty prepares to embark on the new chapter in her life, I want to personally take this opportunity to thank her for her leadership and guidance, in my first year as Principal of Cedar Lane School. Her knowledge, support and expertise have been unimaginable, and selfishly I wish I had more time with her at Cedar Lane. I find peace in knowing we can reach out to her at any time, and she will continue to always be a part of the Cedar Lane Family.  Mrs. Dougherty’s service, dedication and impact on Cedar Lane School will be felt for years to come.  Please join me in wishing Mrs. Dougherty all the best in her well-deserved retirement. We will miss her dearly.

Sincerely,

Dr. Farrish, Principal
