The Clearview Community Connect

Stronger together

Dear Clearview Families,

Thank you to the PTA and parent volunteers for showering our teachers and staff with love this week of Teacher and Staff Appreciation. Your encouragement, collaboration, and partnership with our teachers and staff have been instrumental to student success. We are incredibly grateful for your commitment and look forward to celebrating students’ achievements at our upcoming End-of-Year events. Mark your calendars and get ready to cheer – our students have earned it!

Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or compliments you may have. If you have seen a Clearview staff member going above and beyond, fill out an FCPS Cares here.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Empowering Young Minds in the Digital Age: Digital Citizenship and Screen Time Awareness

As technology continues to weave itself into the fabric of our lives, fostering responsible digital citizenship in our children becomes increasingly important. This involves cultivating critical thinking skills, online safety awareness, and positive online behavior.

Being mindful of our children's screen time is another key aspect. Striking a healthy balance allows them to reap the benefits technology offers, while also encouraging exploration of our outside world. Common Sense Media, a valuable resource for parents, provides age-appropriate tips, recommendations, and insights to navigate this digital landscape together.

A note about the financial audit committee

Each summer, a small committee of three volunteers meets to review a sample of the PTA’s financial records and meeting minutes. It’s a relatively simple audit that comes with a checklist to complete. Please consider serving on the committee and giving about an hour of your time. If interested, please contact the PTA board at ClearviewElementaryPTA@gmail.com before Wednesday’s meeting.

Meet the 2024-25 PTA board nominees:

  • Nominee for President, Yhanni Durdin-James: As a former early childhood educator and homeschooling parent, Yhanni is an active participant in the classroom, frequently volunteering her time. Yhanni has four children at Clearview: Judah (fifth grade), Nali (first grade), Echo (first grade), and Amanu (Pre-K). Her primary goal for the upcoming school year is to increase parent social engagement effectively and to further advocate for the needs of both students and teachers.

Ping has three children at Clearview: Olivia (sixth grade), Edwin (third grade), and Bella (first grade).
