Family Newsletter May 10, 2024

Principal's Note

Dear Families,

I hope this letter finds you well. I want to extend my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by the delay in allowing students to enter the building on Monday, May 6th.

One of our teachers detected an unusual odor that potentially indicated the presence of gas. In an abundance of caution and with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority, we decided to delay entry into the building.

The Fairfax County Fire Department responded swiftly and thoroughly investigated the situation, ensuring it was safe for everyone to enter the building.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we prioritize the safety and security of our school community.

Sincerely,

Mr. Eric T. Johnson

Thank you to our Art teacher, Mr. Nathan Johnson for preparing our students for the Edison Pyramid Art Show. Cameron was well represented with artwork created during this school year. Our artist displayed paintings, scratch board, drawings, collage, paper weaving and tissue art. We had a lot of families and staff enjoying the work. Thank you to all our artist! The work will also be displayed at our Creatives Night on May 17!

2024-2025 Class Placement and Family Input

Class Placement Family Input

We are starting to work on our plans for the 2024-2025 school year!  Class placements are an essential component of learning and building community. If you have information that you would like us to consider as we determine placements, please share your input by answering a few questions in the attached form. We know that a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success, and we carefully consider each child’s strengths and needs during this process. Please do not request specific teachers, as this does not take into account the many variables we must take into consideration. It is far more valuable to share particular academic or behavioral information. Completion of this form is optional. If you would like to provide input, you may use this online form or a hard copy may be sent to the office by May 17th. This is a hard deadline.

twain community night

Rising 7th graders and their families are invited to attend the Twain Community Night on May 16 from 6-8pm. This is a family-fun event open to the community. There will be prizes from the Washington Nationals, LEGO Discovery, Total Wine, Fairfax County Park Foundation, Natalie Dicks Photography, Crumbl Cookie, and more!
