This is a remarkable shift for our students and school community. Our chronic absentee rate is currently 6.8%, which is down from 19.4% last year this time. While there are illnesses and conditions that may impact our children at times, 93.5% of our students are attending school regularly. Thank you, families, for your partnership. |
Thank you for the adjustments that you have made to schedule vacations during school holidays and to ensure that students are able to be present for as much of the school day as possible when they have medical appointments. Every day is another opportunity for our students to attend, connect, and learn.

Students at Dranesville Elementary are developing Portrait of a Graduate (POG) attributes and learning skills that will help them to succeed in school and in life. The five POG attributes include:
- Communicator
- Collaborator
- Ethical & Global Citizen
- Creative & Critical Thinker
- Goal-Directed & Resilient Individual
Think about the opportunities and challenges you encounter each day and the skills you use to navigate them. We would love to invite you to participate in our Career Fair on Monday, June 10th to share how Portrait of a Graduate attributes are important in your career and to help our students envision the career opportunities and possibilities that are available for them to pursue.
Please sign up to communicate your interest and availability to participate in our Career Fair on Monday, June 10th.
Registering your child early helps our school team to prepare and ensure we have the teachers and resources needed to welcome your child on the first day of school. Please prepare for registration by gathering documents and completing forms. Contact our Registrar, Angela Agana, at 703-326-5200 to schedule a registration appointment. Please note that registration appointments are available now through June 14th.
For details and language support, please visit the Kindergarten Registration page. We look forward to partnering with you to support your child's connection, joy, and learning at Dranesville Elementary School.
We are looking forward to the 2024-2025 school year. We need your help in projecting our total enrollment for next school year. It is important that all families with students currently in K through 5th grade complete the Student Intention Form.
For our families who will be returning, we value and welcome your input and insights about your child's strengths and needs in our class placement process. This is also an opportunity to share any specific concerns or considerations with our administrative team.
Please note that classes are formed with careful consideration to a number of factors. Note that specific teacher requests cannot be accepted. Class and teacher assignments will be communicated to families the week of August 12.
Student Intention and Parent Input form due Friday May 10, 2024.
The 24-25 student school supply list is now available. Our PTA will be coordinating School Supply kits for purchase. Stay tuned for ordering information.
