Battle of the Books scores big win

BOTB champs

On Thursday, April 25 the LJMS Battle of the Books team defeated teams from 14 other middle schools to bring home the 2024 Cross-County Championship, using their speed, agility, and lightning quick recall to surge ahead of the competition during the relay race portion of the event.  Congratulations to these fantastic scholar athletes, as well as their coaches, Mr. Hassett, Mr. McLellan, and Ms. Gresham.

LJ defends Cross-Town Kicks title in dominating fashion

soccer team

On Friday, April 26, LJMS hosted players from Kilmer, Thoreau and Longfellow Middle Schools for the 2nd Annual Cross-Town Kicks Soccer Tournament.  Each school sent four teams to compete in a 16 team, single elimination bracket.  The championship game ended up being a matchup between two Jackson teams, with “AC Melon” taking the victory in penalty kicks.  For the second year in a row, the trophy with stay at Jackson!

Congratulations to Ms. Uriona, Ms. Carroll and Mr. Taft, who spent the past few months preparing our kids for the tournament, and coaching them on Friday night.  Jackson athletes competed with honor and integrity, and were fantastic representatives of LJMS.  Also a huge thanks to all of the after-school staff and security staff, as well as our student volunteers from the Falls Church HS Sports Leadership Class who came together to make this event fun and safe for all athletes and spectators.
