PE Fitness Test - collage of students standing and smiling, running, and stretching

Students worked hard during the Virginia Fitness Test.

Good afternoon, Franklin Community,

This week, as we closed out the Month of the Military Child, I had the opportunity to connect with many of our military-connected students at Franklin MS.  My dad served as a Captain in the Army and my father-in-law as a Captain in the Navy so this is a topic that is close to my heart.  I am so thankful for the commitment and sacrifice the members of our military make and am equally grateful for the support provided by their families.  We have officially begun the process to achieve the Purple Star certification as a school, which signifies our commitment to supporting our military families throughout their time at Franklin MS.  As part of this process, our military-connected students provided me with some great feedback about their experience and I look forward to continuing those conversations in the future.

Next week, we shift our focus to celebrating our staff for Teacher Appreciation Week!  Thank you so much to our PTA and the many volunteers who have committed to our celebrations next week, and the generosity of our families to make this week extra special.  As we have done in the past, I would like to extend the opportunity for our families to recognize a staff member that may have gone above and beyond to support your child or your family.  If you are interested in recognizing a staff member, please fill out this google form.  We will be surprising staff with these messages throughout the week.  Thank you for helping to make this a fantastic week!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  As a reminder, our SOLs begin on Tuesday so please double check the schedule (below) for your child.  As always, please reach out to me at MLCase@fcps.edu with questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Michelle Case

Interim Principal

Easter is a time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, whom Christians believe to be the Son of God.

National School Nurse Day is Wednesday, May 8.  We want to thank Noreen Dorion, our PHN at FMS, and Donna Long, our School Health Aide for everything they do for our students and staff. Professional school nurses support the needs of students through their delivery of healthcare, contributions to local school communities, and promotion of safety, prevention, and wellness throughout the year. School nurses are essential to our community and work tirelessly to make a positive impact in the lives of their students.
