BIKE SAFETY TIP #1:

Wear and equip the right safety gear, like a helmet, bike lights, and tire reflectors.  Bike lights will ensure you're seen by drivers. even in the dark!

BIKE SAFETY TIP #2 :

When you're riding in the street, follow all traffic signs, signals, and lane markings.

BIKE SAFETY TIP # 3 :

Don't weave between vehicles - always signal to other vehicles when you're moving.

BIKE SAFETY TIP #4:

Wear neon, fluorescent, or other bright colors when riding, in the day or at night.  Bright clothing will help drivers see you and avoid accidents!

BIKE SAFETY TIP #5:

Make sure your helmet fits! It should sit one or two finger-widths above your eyebrow, and no more than a couple fingers should fit under the chin strap.

BIKE SAFETY TIP #6:

Look for a break in traffic before turning, and don't forget to signal. You can signal with your arms, or attach signal lights to your bike!

BIKE SAFETY TIP #7:Use your eyes AND ears to watch out for any dangers in the road and listen for any traffic or potential accidents.

From The Health Room

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed.

It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.

If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site  on  the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

FCPS Office Of The Ombuds

FCPS Ombuds Provides Confidential Guidance

The Office of the Ombuds engages with families, students, and staff to offer resources and improve the experience of each and every member of the FCPS community. They work as an independent confidential resource to help get answers to questions, offer options to resolve concerns and hear complaints regarding FCPS matters.

Anyone seeking assistance from the Office of the Ombuds may call 571-423-4014, email ombuds@fcps.edu, visit their webpage, or submit a question. Ombuds staff do not change or make decisions, policies, or regulations; take sides; or provide legal advice.

Required Immunizations For Rising 7th & 12th Graders

Immunizations are required for all students entering 7th and 12th grades this fall. Visit the FCPS immunization webpage to learn about the required vaccines.  Caregivers should ask their private healthcare provider or the health department to review their student's immunization record to ensure that their student has received these required immunizations.

It is important to schedule immunizations early in the summer, as seventh-grade students must submit documentation of the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines before they begin school in August. Twelfth-grade students must submit documentation of the Meningococcal vaccine. Get more information on all student immunization requirements.
