SY 2024-25 Class Assignment Requests

It is hard to believe that we are already planning for next school year!  As a continued part of our partnership with families, we extend an invitation to share thoughts for consideration regarding class assignments for next school year.  Please note that we cannot guarantee placements based upon considerations.  Please do not request a teacher by name.

The Class Assignment Request opportunity closes on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Specialist Spotlight - Technology

If you have a computer, iPad, or smart phone at home, your child has access to lots of FCPS-approved programs through our Bren Mar Park Student Links page.  They can listen to books read aloud on MyOn or TumbleBooks.  Storyline Online even has videos of books read aloud by celebrities! They can play educational games on ABCYa and Starfall. Code.org has coding games that help students practice their computational thinking skills.

Many of these programs don’t require students to log in if accessed through the Bren Mar Park Student Links page.  If they are asked to log in, they should select “log in with Google” and use the following information:

Username: ______@fcpsschools.net (their student ID)

Password: their password

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kristin Feathers at kmfeathers@fcps.edu.

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!

As we approach the end of the school year, it’s important for students to stay engaged, attend school, and finish strong!

  • Regular school attendance in elementary school improves the chances that your child will read on grade level.
  • Chronic absenteeism (missing 18 or more school days per year) is a primary cause of lower academic achievement even when the absences are "excused" or understandable.
  • Students who attend 90% or more of the school year are more likely to graduate from high school on time.
  • Absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with peer conflicts or facing some other potentially serious difficulty, and help is available
