Churchill Chatter - Issue 16, May 3, 2024
Dear Churchill Road Families,
The past few weeks have been packed with activities. Last Friday, our 6th grade boys and girls basketball teams were victorious over their Oakton counterparts. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this fun family event – the PTA, Mrs. Clark, Mr. Steven, Ms. Judkins, Ms. Galpin and Ms. Iandolo, to name only a few. Also last Friday, our music specialist, Ms. Judkins, worked with some of our 6th grade chorus students to help put on a fantastic All County Chorus performance at Hayfield Secondary School.
This week we welcomed members of the Churchill Road class of 2031 to our kindergarten orientation! What a treat it was to meet our future students and introduce them to “a day in the life of a kindergartener”. They walked through the lunch line and took a bus ride! We cannot wait until they join us in August. If you know of any families with rising kindergarten students, please have them contact our front office for more information on registration.
Looking ahead, our SOL testing continues, with students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 taking their reading assessments on May 8 and their mathematics assessments on May 15. Thank you for checking the testing schedule in the message below to avoid absence on testing days and for making sure your students are well rested for these tests.
Hopefully, you have purchased your tickets for Annie Jr……Linked here is more information.
On Friday, May 17, the PTA is planning a fun end of year family event. We hope to see as many of you as possible there.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Pierson-Barr and Ms. Niccolls

Character Strengths Focus
The next character strengths our school community is focusing on are Enthusiasm and Leadership
Enthusiasm - You feel excited and energetic about life! When people are around you, they start to feel the same way.
Leadership - You believe that everyone in your group is important and inspire others to do their best.
To practice and encourage the character strengths with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions about these character strengths.
