Attendance Matters!

This is a short student week due to the Teacher Workday on Friday. Please make sure to encourage your students to come to school all four days. We are in the last quarter and want all our students to end this school year successfully. Studies have shown that just two monthly absences can cause students to fall behind. Let’s finish this school year strong.

HOW CAN YOU HELP YOUR TEEN HAVE GOOD ATTENDANCE?

  • Don’t let your child stay home unless your child is genuinely sick. Remember that according to the new health guidelines, you can still send your child to school with a headache, stomach pain, or allergies.
  • Check your child’s attendance in ParentVUE to be sure absences are not piling up.
  • Call the school if your child refuses to come to school; we can help.

Remember...attendance matters!

FCPS Cares

Congratulations...

To Cameron Leo Vargas for being recognized as an employee who shows that FCPS Cares!

Mrs. Vargas is a very cheerful individual and always makes sure that her students leave class with a smile. In a first period Calculus class, my classmates and I are often tired and not in the best mood to do math this early in the morning. Despite this fact, however Mrs. Vargas lightens up our day and helps us develop a learning mindset throughout the day. Her teaching style adapts to the needs of her students and she has repeatedly shown that she is a large influence to her students overall happiness. Mrs. Vargas is a compassionate math teacher that inspires her students to try harder everyday and keep a positive mindset even during endeavors that seem challenging. Many students are grateful that they have her as their teacher and as a mentor. As a Class of 2025 Officer at Falls Church, I am not only able to see her as a teacher but as a class sponsor as well. She goes above and beyond to help organize fundraisers and events to earn money for her students and important high school events like Prom and Graduation. She is a large part of the communication between admin and the students and continues to push for change and progress in her Falls Church community everyday. Thank you Ms. Vargas, we love you so much.

From The Spotlight Theatre Company

Students have been working really hard on getting our spring production ready for the community.  Don’t miss this Shakespearean comedy about four lovers who run away to the forest only to have Puck the fairy makes both boys fall in love with the same girl.  The four lovers run through the forest pursuing each other while Puck helps his master play a trick on the fairy queen.

The presale ticket price for A Midsummer Night’s Dream is $7 for students and $10 for adults.  Starting May 2nd, prices go up to $10 for students and $12 for adults. Get your tickets today!

How to Get Help Filling Out the FAFSA

According to recent news reports, as many as 30% fewer graduating seniors have completed and submitted a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Many schools rely upon this form to grant students financial aid award letters.

Families who have questions or persistent issues filling out the FAFSA might consider scheduling a free appointment with our partners at College Access Fairfax. Email appointments@CollegeAccessFairfax.org. All FAFSA help provided by our school or College Access Fairfax is free.
