SOL Testing Dates
Students in grades 3-5 will be taking the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) tests between April 29 and May 31, 2024. It is important that your child attend school on these days. If possible, please avoid scheduling trips or appointments that would take your child out of school during this time period. If you anticipate that your child will miss school during this window due to observed religious holidays, let your child’s teacher know and we will schedule your child’s tests accordingly.
It will help your child to perform at their best if they have had a good night’s rest, a healthy breakfast, and come to school with a positive attitude.
Testing Schedule:
- Tuesday, April 30 – Third Grade Reading
- Wednesday, May 1 – Fifth Grade Reading
- Thursday, May 2 – Fourth Grade Reading
- Friday, May 17 – Fifth Grade Science
- Tuesday, May 21 – Fifth Grade Math
- Wednesday, May 22 – Third and Fourth Grade Math

🙋 Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!
As we approach the end of the school year, it’s important for students to stay engaged, attend school, and finish strong! Visit our website for attendance resources.
🖍️ It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!
Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Eligible children can also be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps us plan so that we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.
Prepare for registration by gathering documents and completing forms. We are happy to support families with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For more information in other languages, visit FCPS’ Kindergarten Registration webpage.

Weyanoke Staff Appreciation Week is Coming - (May 6-10)
Using the hearts provided in this week's Wednesday folder, please have your student write a note of thanks to a Weyanoke Staff Member expressing how they appreciate what Weyanoke Staff does for them.
For an example it could say:
By: (student’s name)
I’m thankful for (Mr./Ms. name) because…..
Please return the heart to the school by Thursday, May 2, so that your student's note of thanks can be seen in the hallway.
Also, parents, we need your help!
The PTA is also looking for parent support for staff appreciation week. If you are able to donate your time, talent, or homemade treat please let us know by emailing woodchuckpta.vp@gmail.com.
