Next week (May 6-10) is Teacher Appreciation Week!
We think our Sunrise Valley teachers and staff are absolutely SUN-sational! That's why we're treating them to a "fun in the sun" themed week. Students can join in on the fun by taking part in the following next week:

Tuesday: Students wear their teacher's favorite color.

Wednesday: Students bring a flower in for their teacher.

Thursday: Students bring a homemade card for their teacher.

This year, we're also joining other schools to help celebrate the teachers and staff at Dogwood Elementary School, which currently lacks a PTA. Help us provide a breakfast buffet, “afternoon tea” treat bags, and a card-making station in the cafeteria, so students can write notes of appreciation to their teachers. Sign up here to help! Just a friendly reminder about parking! To keep everyone safe and avoid traffic jams, please use designated parking spaces or the Kiss & Ride lane for pick-up and drop-off. Parking in undesignated areas like the loading dock or curbs creates safety hazards, hinders emergency access, and causes congestion. Let's work together to prioritize a smooth and safe school zone for our school!

To participate in Walk, Bike, Roll to School Day, have your child bike, walk, or ride to school on Wednesday, May 8, under their own power. Stop at the table out front to sign our poster and enter a free gift raffle. Be safe! You can ride on sidewalks, just use care when passing walkers. Apply for Early Learning for Children Six Weeks to Four Years Old
The FCPS PreK and Early Head Start program is accepting applications for SY 2024-25. FCPS PreK and Early Head Start programs provide a high-quality early learning experience for qualifying income-eligible children ages six weeks to four years living in Fairfax County. Watch this video to learn more (also available in Spanish).
- Pre-K prioritizes children who turn 4-years-old by September 30 and also accepts applications for 3-year-old children.
- Early Head Start is located at three elementary schools - Clearview, Crestwood, and Dogwood - and accepts applications from pregnancy to 2 years old.
Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Space is limited and based on income and educational risk factors, not first come, first served. Applications are accepted online, by email (fcpsprekoffice@fcps.edu), or in person at FCPS’ Leis Center location in Falls Church.
