Our Bears have been performing and showcasing various talents this week. Last evening our chorus performed a student led concert titled "Union Mill Goes to the Movies! Career Day

We are excited to celebrate career diversity this year at Union Mill! We will be hosting an in-person event during the school day on Monday, June 10th for all students. Please fill out the following form by May 17th if you are interested in sharing your career in a classroom presentation. While we hope to be able to accommodate all volunteers, please understand that we may need to utilize a lottery. We are still working out the details of presentation times for each grade level so we hope you’ll be flexible with us as we work out the format of the day. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Schmidt or Mrs. Kourajian.

Unified Sports Track Meet

There will be a Unified Sports track meet at Centreville HS on the teacher workday of Friday, May 3. Athletes have been practicing along with their buddies for the last few weeks in the mornings. Students and families are invited to attend the track meet at Centreville HS on Friday, May 3rd from 10:00 – 11:00 am

IMPORTANT SOL TESTING INFORMATION

Our students grades 3-6 will take the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) Tests starting Tuesday, May 7, 2024. It will be very helpful if you can avoid appointments which may take your child out of school. Also, it will help your child to perform his or her best if he or she has had a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast and comes to school with a positive attitude.

First Grade Collaboration

ta

First Graders use POG skills to create their own addition and subtraction board games. Students did a beautiful job communicating and collaborating as they created & played their games.

Book Fair: Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who helped support the Spring Book Fair this past week as we raised funds to purchase new books for the UMES Library!  Special thanks to our amazing library volunteers:  Cara and Colin Craft, Sunny Chong, Christina Janezic, Sam Nhan, Jini Hwang, Justine Scott, Jodi Houpos, Joy Curzio, Laura Sexton, Terry Favale, Wendy Pagonis, and Meghan Lambert.  We couldn’t run a book fair without the help of parent volunteers!  Thank you! Pictured below are just some of the titles we were able to add to the library for your children to check out!
