The Principals' POSITIVE Press
Happy Friday CES Community,
Earth Week was a POSITIVE success! We kicked things off with a fantastic display of teamwork and perseverance at the Special Olympics track event on Saturday. Five of our POSITIVE students participated, and their dedication and effort truly inspired everyone. The smiles all around say it all – it was a day filled with POSITIVE fun and accomplishment. Huge thanks to Coach Christie, Mrs. Weiner, and Mrs. Al-Rikabi for making this POSITIVE event possible!
On Tuesday, our POSITIVE CES Green Team ventured beyond Front Royal for a special mission: releasing the Brook Trout they'd raised themselves! The hard work and dedication of our POSITIVE students didn't go unnoticed - several media outlets even joined the POSITIVE event to capture the experience. A big thank you to Mrs. Settlemyre, Mr. Mydlinski, Mr. Baybrook, Ms. Kaufman, and Mrs. Vodi for their POSITIVE leadership. This annual trout release is always a unique and unforgettable field trip for our POSITIVE students, fostering a connection with nature and a sense of accomplishment.
Our final Earth Week hurrah today was our POSITIVE Green Hour of Power! It was a fantastic way to celebrate sustainability, a core value here at CES. Get ready to cheer on eight talented CES students tomorrow at the prestigious FCPS All County Chorus Concert! Mrs. Walsh and Mrs. Tiesler have poured their hearts into preparing these POSITIVE stars for their big moment.
This year we will be celebrating our POSITIVE CES staff during the week of May 6th. PTA and CES administration are working together to show our staff how much we appreciate all they do each day. In order to make it special for our POSITIVE staff, we need your help! If you are able, please sign up for a slot below. Please drop the items off by Friday, May 3rd.

 Regular attendance can help students be successful in the classroom, graduate on time, and achieve their life goals. If students miss too much school, school staff may contact families to work with them to support improved attendance. Visit our website for more attendance resources. Today CES sent out 'State of Attendance Letters' for all students. The purpose of these letters is for awareness. We feel it is incredibly important for all students to be at CES as much as possible. If you have any questions please reach out to Mr. Douds at jtdouds@fcps.edu. it’s important for students to stay engaged, attend school, and finish strong!

🖍️ It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!
Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Eligible children can also be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps us plan so that we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.
Prepare for registration by gathering documents and completing forms. We are happy to support families with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For more information in other languages, visit FCPS’ Kindergarten Registration webpage.

Lost and Found at CES
The Lost and Found wardrobe at CES is overflowing! Lost items are displayed in the café and near the gym doors. Any items not claimed by Friday, May 3rd, will be donated.
Please remember to put your child’s name on their belongings so they can be returned.
