Equally impressive, our Girls Lacrosse seniors have been sticking to strong leadership skills throughout the season!

LAX

Lastly, our Girls Soccer seniors were celebrated Friday night for kicking leadership into another gear this season!

SOCCER

We are proud of all these athletes’ achievements and wish them the best as they wrap up their seasons.

Art Gala Extravaganza!

Our Art Gala show last Thursday was a resounding success! Thanks to our incredible Fine Arts teachers (Ms. Fischer, Ms. Kimble, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Christie) for inspiring creativity with our students. With a few hundred pieces of art on display, I can’t share pictures of every magnificent piece of art, but if you click on the QR code in the first picture, you can go on a virtual tour and see many of the beautiful pieces that were showcased.

ART

I’d also like to recognize Mr. Kieley and our Guitar students for setting the perfect musical tone for this dignified event. Last but not least, we appreciate Mr. Long and his Culinary Arts students for providing the delicious hors d’oeuvres throughout the event. The displayed artworks were nothing short of impressive!

GUITAR

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we make South County High School a place of excellence and pride.

Scouting Success!

Congratulations to one of our Stallions, Samson Boyd, who has successfully completed his Eagle Scout project. Samson dedicated his time and effort to providing health kits specifically tailored for students with Type 1 diabetes. This project not only showcases Samson's leadership and dedication but also highlights his compassion and commitment to making a positive impact in our community. Samson's initiative embodies the spirit of service and care that we strive to instill in all our students. His project will undoubtedly make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most. Please join me in congratulating Samson on this incredible achievement.

Artistically Teaching Peace

Join me in extending heartfelt gratitude to Aurelia Klunder, a former South County High Art Honor Society member turned George Mason University sophomore, and her equally gifted mother, Patti Klunder. Together, they've graced our school walls with a stunning mural advocating for peace, showcasing not just their artistic prowess but also their unwavering dedication to our community. Spending countless hours, often staying well into the evening, they've painted not just colors but a message of harmony and positivity. Their artistic strokes, mixed with love and dedication, make them shining examples of the best our South County community has to offer.

PEACE

Have a great weekend!

AP Testing

Parents – WE NEED YOU!!! - AP Testing Parent Volunteers

The Testing Office is in desperate need of parent volunteers to help support Advanced Placement (AP) Testing from May 6 through May 17.  Volunteers would support the Student Services staff in checking in students, distributing tests, and supporting test security during the exams.  To avoid conflicts of interest, we ask that parents do not volunteer during their own student’s exam.  Please go to the Sign-Up Genius linked below to volunteer:

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0A4FABA82FA0FE3-49205270-aptesting#/

SOL and AP Testing Calendars

The calendars for both AP testing and SOL testing are available on the SCHS web page through the Student Services section. Some students with special testing accommodations may test earlier than the posted dates and will be contacted via email.  The next date with a modified bell schedule will be May 9.

Early Release/ Late Arrival on Test Days for Advanced Placement (AP) Testers

In the past, many of our students who are taking morning AP exams have brought in parent excuses for an early release; likewise, students taking afternoon AP exams have come in late with notes from home.

In order to facilitate and expedite the attendance process during the AP testing window, we are asking that you use this form if you wish to excuse your student from classes on the days when he/she will be taking AP Exams. Forms are due to Ms. Clarke in the Attendance Office no later than Wednesday May 1st with no exceptionsOnce this form is submitted, you do NOT need to call your student in or out on an AP testing day.
