Dear Wolftrap Families,

Keep in mind that social and emotional screener results are coming soon. FCPS students in grades 3-12 took the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener during March, providing updated information on skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships with adults and peers, and making responsible decisions. The SEL Screener also helps students evaluate their school community’s efforts to make them feel valued, included, and supported.

In late April, individual student SEL Screener results will be available for families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.

Get more information about the screener on the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage. For support in understanding your individual student’s results or ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or contact your student’s teacher or Ms. Lisa O’Donovan, our Assistant Principal.

Our best to you,

Dr. Maggie Grove, Principal
Ms. Lisa O’Donovan, Assistant Principal

OPTIONAL CLASS PLACEMENT 2024-2025: (DUE TODAY by 5pm! ): As in the past, we welcome your participation as we plan for class assignments. Every class will have a blend of children with diverse needs, personalities, and learning abilities. You may complete an optional survey for the upcoming year at THIS LINK.

Due to the many factors we must consider in creating the best possible classroom placement for everyone, requests for specific teachers cannot be honored. Additionally, the form does not ensure that students will or will not be placed with other students. Our teachers and staff will use this information to work on tentative class groupings in June, with classroom assignments finalized in August as the school year approaches. Please submit the electronic form no later than today by 5pm. Late submissions will not be considered. Thanks for continuing to have trust in our school and working together to create the most successful environment for your child(ren) at Wolftrap each year!

STAFF SPOTLIGHT:  I’m happy to introduce Ms. Kate Piester, one of our amazing Special Education teachers. She loves Wolftrap because of the commitment and dedication the teachers give each day to ensure every learner's unique needs are met. The support of Wolftrap families is amazing. When she is not teaching, you might see Ms. Piester reading, playing with her dogs or guiding her young adult children along the way. Ms. Piester has spent time in Vermont, New York, Utah and Georgia, but we are really happy she landed in Virginia!
