Stratford Landing Class Placement Family Input for the 2024-2025 School Year

Many families value having a role in their child’s class placement. Parents and caregivers have the best overall knowledge of your child and her/his/their unique traits. The class placement process is approached very carefully and thoroughly at Stratford Landing and we consider the academic and social needs of each student. In order to provide the best environment for your child, we seek input from both staff and families.

We ask that you do not reach out directly to teachers to make requests for next school year. Parents and caregivers can provide their input through this process. Our teachers drive the class placement process, and we trust their judgment and expertise when creating class placements. When completing the form, please share the qualities of a teacher and classroom environment that would best meet your child’s needs.

Requests for specific teachers, or to be grouped with specific students, will not be honored. Instead, this is an opportunity for families to share information about their child that would support learning. To create equitable and dynamic class groupings, it is impossible to honor every request from a family to place a child in a specific classroom with specific students. Please be assured that with or without family input, each child's needs will be carefully considered to ensure the selection of a classroom in which your child will learn best.

Class assignments will not be finalized or communicated to families until close to the start of the 2024-2025 School Year.

Please share your thoughts on the needs of your child by answering the questions in this form.

The form will close on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Social and Emotional Learning Screener Results Coming Soon

FCPS students in grades 3-12 took the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener during March, providing updated information on skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships with adults and peers, and making responsible decisions. The SEL Screener also helps students evaluate their school community’s efforts to make them feel valued, included, and supported.

In late April, individual student SEL Screener results will be available for families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.

Get more information about the screener on the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage. For support in understanding your individual student’s results or ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or contact your student’s teacher or SLES counselors Mersal Shaker or Raina Roop.

School Health Services Satisfaction Survey

The Fairfax County Health Department and FCPS School Health Services invite parents/caregivers to participate in a survey on the level of satisfaction with support provided to your school community by School Health Services. The survey takes about five minutes to complete and is open until Friday, April 26. Your feedback can help to improve school health services.

Online Registration for the 2024-2025 School Year (SY)

Online Registration for the 2024-2025 school year opened on April 2, 2024. Both new and returning (re-enrolling) families can use our Online Registration (OLR) system to register students entering Kindergarten (00) through 12th grade for the upcoming academic year.

Welcome to Fairfax County Public Schools’ (FCPS) Online Registration.  This will provide families with the information to utilize this convenient registration tool. Parents and guardians can still register students using the electronic bundle or choose to complete paper registration forms if they prefer.

April Is Month of the Military Child

Purple Up! banner

The Month of the Military Child is a time to recognize military-connected youth for their service and contribution to our community. Fairfax County Public Schools is proud to have more than 14,000 military-connected youth as a part of our student body. We appreciate the varied life experiences they bring to our school community and recognize their strength and resilience.

To show our support for all our military-connected families, we invite students, families, school employees, and community members to “Purple Up!” for military children. Wear purple on Friday 26. Purple symbolizes all branches of the military as a combination of Army green; Marine Corps red; and Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force, and Space Force blue

Honoring Military Kids

In this video, Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid and Fort Belvoir Garrison Commander Colonel Joseph Messina recognize and celebrate the resilience and sacrifices of military-connected children during the Month of the Military Child. FCPS shows our appreciation and gratitude to these remarkable young individuals who contribute so much to our community

For our SLES Military-Connected Families

We are celebrating the month of the military child. Please, if you are affiliated with the military take one minute to fill out this form. Thank you!

Military-Connected Family Support

FCPS welcomes all of our new and returning military-connected families throughout the year!
