Message from Dr. Khoshaba

Greetings Parents and Guardians,

As we continue to strengthen our school community's identity, we value your input. Please take a moment to share your thoughts by completing a brief survey here within the next week. We look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your ongoing partnership.

Military Spirit Week!

A big thank you to Mrs. Ohlmeyer, Mrs. Peck, and Mrs. Burnside for sponsoring our Military Student Spirit Week! Here how we celebrated with Spirit Days this week:

  • Monday: Camo Day
  • Tuesday: Stars and Stripes (wear red, white, and blue)
  • Wednesday: Purple UP!
  • Thursday: Represent your favorite branch of service (wear your Marines, Navy, Air Force t-shirts and hoodies!)
  • Friday: Pajama Day (we sleep soundly because of those who serve)

There was also a breakfast and ice cream social for our military students. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many students we had the chance to celebrate this week.

Important Announcement:

During the upcoming AP, IB, and SOL testing windows, morning attendance notifications will be delayed by one hour for middle and high schools, ensuring student safety and timely communication regarding absences. The delay will be in effect from April 22 to May 24, 2024.

Exceptional Instruction!

This week, I had the chance to observe exceptional instructional strategies in several classes, including Ms. Cortes/Ms. Anton, Ms. Gero, and Ms. McClinton's classes. It's inspiring to see our dedicated educators in action!

Don’t Miss Out!

A friendly reminder to secure your copy of this year's yearbook—a keepsake of cherished memories and milestones. There are two ways to order: visit our website, or click on the QR code on this flyer that will be displayed at school.

Super Saturday!

This week ended in one of the most enjoyable Saturdays in recent memory for me. The day started in a great way, as I was able to join the Crew team for this weekend’s regatta. I want to commend the Jr-4 Women’s team for earning third place. Special recognition goes to Hannah Tan, Sadie Ward, Chloe Cabrera, Ariane Kim, and Reilly Novchich.

The men’s Novice team also outperformed many teams as they rowed into third place as well. An “oar’s salute” goes to Peter Graham, Jackson Sinon, Stephan Grandison, Aden Saleh, Paxton Cowan, Sebastian Martin, Adam Pinsky, Trevor Williams, and Aidan Kim. Way to go, Stallion rowers!

Next, I traveled to school to get schooled with some amazing crafts at our PTSO Spring Craft Show. Special recognition goes out to Mrs. Renee Flynn, Mrs. Olivia, and their committee for putting together another wonderful event. In addition to the wonderful crafters and vendors there, we were entertained by the music of DC Transit and enjoyed visiting with our county Police, Bomb Squad, and Fire departments. We even had a dunk tank there, and many of our students and faculty took turns getting on the “plank!” This was an exceptional community event.

Saturday came to a close as our Boys Lacrosse team competed against Oakton High School. It was a competitive match that saw the scores going back and forth the entire evening. I was very proud of our Stallions for their energy and enthusiasm, but most importantly their sportsmanship. The students on this team are role models for being school spirited, both on and off the field.

Thank you for your attention to these important matters, and as always, we appreciate your support in creating a safe and vibrant learning environment for our students.

Warm regards,

AP Testing Parent Volunteers Needed

The Testing Office need parent volunteers to help support Advanced Placement (AP) Testing from May 6 through May 17.  Volunteers would support the Student Services staff in checking in students, distributing tests, and supporting test security during the exams.  To avoid conflicts of interest, we ask that parents do not volunteer during their own student’s exam.  Please go to the Sign-Up Genius linked below to volunteer:
