Good afternoon,
It has been an eventful week at Union Mill with various field trips where students had opportunities to visit the National Zoo, Mt. Vernon and Hemlock Overlook. Thank you to all families who have been utilizing MySchoolBucks. This has saved our teachers and office staff time and has made collecting money for field trips much more efficient.
We are hopeful to see families this evening at our Book Fair from 4:00 - 7:00 pm along with our PTA and Girl Scout Ice Cream Social from 5:00 - 7:00pm.

Autism Acceptance Month
April is Autism Acceptance Month. One in 44 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder in the United States, according to the CDC. Our schools and staff play a vital role in creating and ensuring inclusive environments that accommodate and affirm autistic students. Throughout the month, students at Union Mill have been participating in stations in PE and engaging in interactive read alouds. This Friday, our SCA is sponsoring an Autism Acceptance spirit day and students are encouraged to wear blue.

Scholastic Spring Book Fair April 22- April 26th
The Spring Book Fair is here! Help is needed throughout the week and for pack up. If you have a few minutes to share, please consider signing up on this SignUpGenius. There will be an opportunity for families to come to the Book Fair in the evening on Wednesday, April 24th from 4:00 - 7:00pm. In order for us to make this a success we need volunteers, specifically on Wednesday between 4:00 - 7:00pm. Thank you for supporting the UMES Library!

Support for the Brice Family
As we shared last week, we are heartbroken for the loss of William and Zachariah Brice. Children, neighbors and members of the community have been painting rocks in remembrance of the boys. If you or your child would like to paint a rock and bring it to Union Mill, we will ensure it is placed in the community heart. We continue to offer our condolences to the Brice family during this difficult time and our clinical team will continue to be available to support students throughout the coming days. Additional resources can be found here to support your child during this difficult time.

STUDENT INTENT FORM DUE FRIDAY, APRIL 26
The "Student's Intention For The Next School Year" form is used by FCPS staff to project each school's total enrollment for the next school year. This form went home on Monday. Please return the form to the school regardless of your answer by Friday, April 26. We hope to receive a form back from every student. Thank you for your time.

Unified Sports Track Meet
There will be a Unified Sports track meet at Centreville HS on the teacher workday of Friday, May 3. Athletes have been practicing along with their buddies for the last few weeks in the mornings. Students and families are invited to attend the track meet at Centreville HS on Friday, May 3rd from 10:00 – 11:00 am.

Union Mill Chorus Spring Concert
Alumni Invited!
The Union Mill Chorus is performing their Spring Concert, “Union Mill Goes to the Movies”, on Tuesday, April 30th at 6:00 PM. Any alumni students that are now in Middle or High School are invited to join the chorus for the last song, “We’re All in This Together” from High School Musical.
