Thank you to all the students who submitted t-shirt designs for the Panther Prowl. It was a tough decision to choose just one, so we actually chose two winners! They will be announced by the end of this week.
Speaking of the Prowl, if you register now, you are guaranteed to have your t-shirt to wear for all of the spirit days leading up to the Prowl. Be sure to order some raffle tickets as well - the prize line-up is pretty amazing!
We are still looking for nominations for next year’s Board! We have a fantastic group of dedicated individuals, but need a few more people to completely fill the slate. Please consider donating some of your time to the RCMS community.
Lastly, Teacher Appreciation week is quickly approaching! We are asking families to donate gift cards and food items for a treats buffett on May 8. Please consider donating via the SignUp Genius below.

Believe it or not, the Rachel Carson PTA is already planning for the 2024-2025 school year! Are you or is someone you know enthusiastic about supporting Rachel Carson and all of its students, teachers, and staff? We are soliciting nominations for several positions that will be open next year including:

President - oversees and coordinates the executive board to effectively run the PTA; presides at PTA board and association meetings; serves as the official contact, communicator, and representative of the PTA

Recording Secretary - takes minutes at board and association meetings; maintains and preserves PTA records and documents to pass on at the end of term

Financial Assistant - works closely with the treasurer and other financial officers in handling PTA funds; deposits funds in the PTA bank account and reconciles the bank account monthly

VP of Fundraising and Social Events - oversees and coordinates with individual event Chairpersons for PTA fundraising and social activities
-
Membership Chair - works with the membership committee to create and implement the annual membership campaign; promotes membership throughout the year; provides membership reports at PTA board and association meetings.

Basketball Game Chair - works closely with the RCMS After School Activities Specialist and the LHMS PTA Basketball Chair to plan and execute the annual RCMS vs. LHMS Basketball Game event

Restaurant Spirit Night Chair - arranges and coordinates for restaurant spirit nights throughout the school year

STEAM Night Chair - arranges and coordinates a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) event

Panther Prowl Registration
Register here for the Panther Prowl Family Fun 5K Run/Walk!
May 18th, 8 - 11 am
Join us in the renewal of a beloved community tradition- the Panther Prowl!
Register your student and/or your whole family for a morning of fun, food and exercise.
Leading up to the Panther Prowl, we will have RCMS spirit days every Wednesday in May. All staff members and registered students will wear the race shirts designed by RCMS students. Registered students will also be eligible to win in-school raffle prizes in the weeks leading up to the race. The Panther Time classes with the highest number of Panther Prowl registrants will receive a donut party the week after the Prowl. PE teachers also plan to offer incentives for registering.
There are virtual race options, a virtual only raffle and extra T-shirts for sale if you'd like to be a part of the Panther Prowl but can't join us in person on May 18th.
Grab a t-shirt and a virtual raffle ticket and be a part of the Panther Prowl. We don’t want you to miss out! Register soon before prices go up!
April 16th- April 21st:
$15 for RCMS Student or Individual only
$30 for a Family registration
$12 for an extra T-shirt

Panther Prowl Raffle Prizes Needed
We are looking for parents who have goods or services to donate to our raffle. Do you own a business that could offer a raffle prize? Teacher Appreciation Week Donations Needed
Let’s celebrate our awesome teachers at Carson! We have several events planned for teachers this year, including an Anita’s breakfast, a gift card raffle, and a sweet treats buffett. 8th Grade Party Date Announced
Parents of all 8th graders, please block your students' calendar for June 7th, 5:30-8pm to attend the 8th Grade Graduation Celebration. The theme this year will be Hawaiian/Luau and the event will be free for all 8th graders. The planning committee is busy putting the details together which involves food, a DJ, and plenty of activities. As we get closer, more details will be provided so be on the lookout for sign-up opportunities to support and chaperone the event.
