April 20: Beautification Day. Join us between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to help beautify the SEES grounds! We will be painting rocks, picking up trash, and planting seeds. No need to sign up in advance. If inclement weather, the rain date is Saturday, April 27.

April 22 - 26: Earth Day Spirit Week. Earth Day is on Monday, April 22, and SEES is celebrating with a week of spirit days:
- Monday, April 22 – Earth Day - wear GREEN
- Tuesday, April 23 – Watershed Day - wear BLUE
- Wednesday, April 24 – Zero Waste Day - wear WHITE
- Thursday, April 25 – Climate Change Day - wear RED
- Friday, April 26- Wildlife Day - wear NATURE PRINT

Notes from the Nest
In our SEES school community, we S.O.A.R., meaning that we demonstrate: Support, Optimism, Acceptance, and Responsibility.
We have so many reasons to celebrate at SEES this week and next!
- This week, we showed our appreciation for our amazing Military Kids with special spirit days.
- We also recognized outstanding attendance and citizenship for students in 3rd to 6th grade today!
- And the celebrations keep going – tomorrow is Earth Day, and we'll be beautifying our school for Beautification Day!
Looking ahead to next week, we'll be celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Week! We want to express our sincere gratitude to all the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to SEES.
Our volunteers play a vital role in so many areas: helping at PTA events, serving on the PTA Board, assisting in our library, and working one-on-one with students. If you're volunteering at the school next week, please stop by the office for a sweet treat as a small token of our appreciation!

2024 Dr. Lawrence Bussey Memorial Equity Award Nominations
Nominations are now open for the 2024 Dr. Lawrence Bussey Memorial Equity Award. The Minority Student Achievement Oversight Committee (MSAOC) sponsors this award to honor the legacy of Dr. Bussey by recognizing staff or community members who have demonstrated significant and impactful efforts to improve the educational experiences and outcomes of students from groups who are marginalized or underserved.
If you know of some outstanding equity work here at Springfield Estates, please consider nominating that person or team for this award. Any FCPS employee, student, or community member can nominate an individual or group for the award. All nomination materials must be submitted by Wednesday, May 1, 2024. The winner will be recognized in person at the FCPS Equity Symposium!
