The PTA Nominating Committee has developed a slate of amazing individuals and we will vote on the 2024-25 board at the PTA meeting May 15th.
We are still seeking a Vice President who would shadow the current PTA President in 2024-25 to learn the role and step into the President position in 2025-26. The President elect would meet with the Principal monthly.
It is time to start planning for our next school year. Developing class assignments each year is a complex process. School administration, classroom teachers, counselors, special education staff and specialists all have the opportunity to provide feedback on class groupings.
If you have feedback that you would like for us to consider, please add it to this Family Input Form no later than May 17, 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted. We will consider all feedback provided, but we are not always able to fulfill requests.
We respectfully ask that you do not request particular teachers. It is unfair to give special consideration to some families when it would be impossible to grant requests from all families. Please be aware that grade level assignments for staff sometimes change, due to late enrollments or other changes. Staff assignments are determined at the end of the summer.
Kindergarten Orientation is for families and incoming kindergarten students. During the parent orientation we will screen students early learning skills to create balanced classrooms for the school year.
Information has been sent to families who have started the registration process. If you have questions, please contact Sue Holmes ksholmes@fcps.edu.

Our WFES community made our staff feel special this week!
FCPS students in grades 3-12 took the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener during March, providing updated information on skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships with adults and peers, and making responsible decisions. The SEL Screener also helps students evaluate their school community’s efforts to make them feel valued, included, and supported.
In late April, individual student SEL Screener results will be available for families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.
Get more information about the screener on the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage. For support in understanding your individual student’s results or ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or contact your student’s counselor.

Our fourth graders had an exciting trip to Jamestown yesterday. Our students and staff handled the three hour delay getting back to school very well. Thank you to all of our chaperones, especially Mr. Levant, who saved the day by going out to get snacks for everyone!
