My Dearest Fox Family!

I hope this newsletter finds you in the best of health and in great spirits.  Last week was busy and buzzing with excitement in regard to our Band, Chorus, and Strings Concerts!  Wow—what talented kids we have at Fort Hunt!  We also had an amazing time last Wednesday at our PTA meeting/STEM Night. Thanks to all staff, parents, and guest presenters who help make this event successful. This week we are gearing up to celebrate Mother Earth! Traditionally April 22nd is Earth Day, but we are engaging in many color schemes as a reminder of the importance of taking care of Mother Earth. Established in 1970, Earth Day offers an opportunity to highlight environmental issues and the work being done to protect the planet from pollution, disforestation, and other threats. The theme for 2024 is focused on the threat plastics pose to the environment. Let’s ALL do our part to make a difference. “The Earth has enough resources to meet the needs of all but not enough to satisfy the greed of even one person.” Mahatma Gandhi

Wednesday, April 24th, is National Administrative Professionals' Day, also known as Secretaries’ Day or Administrative Assistants’ Day.  This special day recognizes the professionals who keep an office running smoothly every day. We generally celebrate these professionals on the Wednesday of the last full week in April of each year. This special day recognizes the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals. Central to any business, these professionals keep an office organized and efficient. Please join me in thanking our Administrative Professionals at Fort Hunt:

  • Debbie Trenchard – Administrative Assistant
  • Tracy Hutchison – Office Assistant
  • Rosa Dobarco – Student Information Assistant
  • Sarah Lee – Office Assistant/Receptionist

Have an AMAZING week filled with love, peace, and kindness.

All the best,
Mattie S. Fallen, Ed.D.
Interim Principal

Care and Share Thank Yous!

Thank you to the families of the Plymouth Haven Christian Preschool who hosted their annual food drive to support the distribution of Spring Break food packages for our Care & Share families. The Plymouth Haven families provided our Care & Share students with extra nourishment during our 7-day break.  Thank you for your continued support from year to year!

Thank you to the Iota Epsilon Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (pictured above) in Woodbridge who donated 150 Food 4 Thought packages to our Care & Share Program.  As a result of their generosity, we can add the families who expressed need in the Family Assistance Survey to the distribution for the remainder of the school year.  Thank you, Ladies, for your continued support of our students!
