Principal's Message

Dear Marshall Road Families,

We hope you enjoyed the warmer weather this weekend and all of the wonderful opportunities to explore the outdoors.

Please consider joining us for International Night this Friday, 5:30-7:30 pm on the blacktop.  The PTA has planned a wonderful evening where students and families can share their cultures.  This annual event has become a highlight of the school year and we hope to see you there.

Have a great week.

Much peace.

Take Your Child to Work Day

If you plan to have your child participate in Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 25, please notify your child’s teacher and email the office at MarshallRoadElem.Attendance@fcps.edu ahead of time, noting whether your child will be out all or part of the day.

Lost and Found

Please have your child check the Lost and Found for winter coats, water bottles and other items.  Unclaimed items will be donated on May 3rd. To prevent lost items, we ask that you write your child's last name on their belongings.  Items with names on them will be returned to the student instead of the Lost and Found.

Yearbook Sales Deadline Extended to April 26

Yearbook sales have begun, and pre-orders will be accepted through April 26.  Online orders can be placed using this Yearbook Order Form.  If you would prefer to pay $20.00 by cash or check, make checks payable to Marshall Road Elementary School, place cash or check in an envelope and write your child’s name, teacher name and YEARBOOK on the envelope.  Each yearbook is packed with candid photos, memories of the 2023-2024 school year, staff photos and individual photos of each student by grade level.  There will be a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase after all the prepaid orders are distributed during the last week of school.

Upcoming School Health Services Satisfaction Survey April 15-26

The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) and Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) School Health Services invites parents/guardians of FCPS students to participate in a survey requesting feedback on the level of satisfaction with School Health Services provided to the school community.

FCHD employs school health aides and public health nurses who provide school health services to the students in FCPS.  To determine the quality of these services, a survey has been developed by the FCHD to be shared with all parents or guardians who interact with the school health rooms.  The survey will be open April 15-26 and should take approximately five minutes to complete.  Click here to complete and submit survey.  Translations are available here.

New Regulation on Meditation and Reflection Spaces

FCPS has developed Regulation 1502 to ensure all students and staff have reasonable accommodation and access to meditation and silent reflection spaces within the school division.  The regulation provides guidance for schools on how to manage requests for silent reflection during instructional and non-instructional time, and for students to leave school for religious activities.

These spaces are for individuals to engage in prayer, meditation, or silent reflection, inclusive of their religious or non-religious beliefs. Parents/caregivers must provide written permission for students requesting to miss instructional time on a regular basis.  Families are encouraged to contact their child’s teacher regarding accommodations.  More information can be found at the Guidelines for Religious Activities webpage.  Translations are available in Spanish and Korean.
