Robinson Pyramid Art Show 2024

Congratulations to all of our TC artists who had artwork displayed at the Robinson Pyramid Art Show yesterday!  It was great opportunity to showcase our young artists across the pyramid. Special thanks to Ms. Bauersfeld, TC's art teacher!

TC Families,

Thank you to our 1st grade families for the taco bar luncheon this week!  Everything was delicious and very much appreciated!

On Wednesday, April 24th, we are celebrating our Administrative Professionals Day to thank our front office staff who work hard every day to support Terra Centre students, staff, and families.  Please join us in thanking Sandra Ammar, Dee Cunningham, Julie Hart, and Valerie Sollers!

Welcome our new Family Liaison, Michelle Sehwoerer, who started at Terra Centre this week. She sent out a message via Talking Points earlier this week and is available to support families in a variety of ways with information, communication, and resources. Her email is mksehwoererr@fcps.edu.

As a reminder, today (April 19) is the last day to order a yearbook. Yearbooks are $15 for softcover and they can be ordered online only at https://www.barksdalephoto.com/. Go to "What are you looking for?" and select "Order Your Yearbook" and enter Access Code:  0038625YB.

Earth Week: April 22-26

Next week is Earth Week! While we all work hard to protect our planet each day, Earth Week gives us a chance to learn about new opportunities and make commitments to do even more. We will be doing activities at school and families can complete the BINGO board below. Visit FCPS Get2Green for more information.

Each day next week has a theme and we will be having spirit days to match:

  • Monday- Earth Day- wear green
  • Tuesday- Watershed Day- wear blue
  • Wednesday- Zero Waste Day- wear white
  • Thursday- Climate Change Day- wear red
  • Friday- Wildlife Day- wear a nature print

Continue the learning and have fun with our Fairfax County Partners. Fairfax County Park Authority's Earth Day Festival will be held Saturday, April 20, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Sully Historic Site. The festival will include earth and nature-focused programs, scavenger hunts, and more.

Family Summit

Register Today for the FCPS Family Summit

Registration is open for the FCPS Family Summit, which will take place on Saturday, April 20, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at Marshall High School. The conference will cover topics that are helpful for all families, such as social-emotional resources, along with a specially curated online component to provide supports for students with disabilities and their families.

Some of the topics include raising resilient, independent children; forming meaningful connections with children; addressing big emotions; and the dangers of opioids and fentanyl. The theme — Safe, Supported, and Included — aligns with Goal 2 of FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan.

Social and Emotional Learning Screener Results Coming Soon

FCPS students in grades 3-12 took the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener during March, providing updated information on skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships with adults and peers, and making responsible decisions. The SEL Screener also helps students evaluate their school community’s efforts to make them feel valued, included, and supported.

In late April, individual student SEL Screener results will be available for families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.

Get more information about the screener on the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage. For support in understanding your individual student’s results or ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or contact your student’s [teacher or counselor].
