Chantilly Academy Highlights

auto guest speaker

Former Chantilly Academy Auto Tech student, Colin, came to speak to our Auto Tech 2 & 3 students about his pathway in the automotive industry. Colin began his first internship in the field at the Fairfax County Department of Vehicle Services (DVS) while he was in high school. After graduation, Colin attended Penn College of Technology and earned an associate's degree in Automotive Technology and a bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology Management.  Colin recently began a full-time position with DVS as a mechanic working on school buses.  Thank you, Colin, for sharing your journey with our students!

carpentry window sash

Carpentry 2 students had an opportunity to learn about preserving historic windows this week.  Melanie Lytle of Glaze Craft Windows, one of the premier historic window preservationists in the Mid-Atlantic region, brought in one of her current projects to show students, a set of century-old windows from a local home.  Students had the opportunity to learn about the preservation process and do some problem solving along the way.

military ball

Our AFJROTC cadets attended the Military Ball this week along with cadets from all eight of the FCPS JROTC programs.  It was a fantastic evening connecting with cadets from throughout the county!
