Thank You For Your Wishlist Gifts!
Herndon Middle School teachers and the PTA would like to thank everyone who has purchased items off the school wishlist. During the staff meeting in March, items were placed out for distribution and our teachers were thrilled! We still welcome donations through our linked Walmart and Amazon wishlists.
Thank you again for helping make Herndon Middle School a fun and engaging environment for everyone!

Open PTA Board Positions
At the end of this school year, our Herndon Middle School PTA president and several other board members will be stepping down, as they have reached their term limits. To ensure the Herndon Middle School PTA continues to thrive and serve our community, we are seeking parents like you to step up and take on keyboard roles. Currently, we have openings for:
- President
- Vice President
- Communications Secretary
- Treasurer
- Back to School and Curriculum Night Committee Chair
- Corporate Sponsor Committee Chair
- Family Event Night Chair
- Spirit Wear Chair
- Teacher Representatives
- Website Administrator
Our current board is committed to a smooth transition and is ready to offer the necessary support to set you up for success. However, we need the active participation of new board members so that we can continue to support our community with events, scholarships, field trips, and capital improvement, as well as fostering strong connections between families, students, and staff.
Your involvement is crucial, and we would be delighted to have you on board! Please email president@hmspta.com with any questions, or additional info, or to express your interest.
8th Grade Yard Signs
8th grade Herndon MS parents/caregivers, Yard Signs are now available for purchase. You will want to place your order here. The signs should be ready 2 weeks from April 12. Everyone who places an order will receive further information once we have the signs ready to go.

Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week will be celebrated from May 6 to May 10. This year, we are extending our gratitude to our Herndon MS teachers with the following gestures:
Stock the Lounge: On Tuesday, May 7th, we encourage you to contribute to our "Stocking the Lounge" project by donating snacks and fruit for the teachers. Additionally, we are seeking two volunteers to assist in sorting and stocking. Please drop off your contributions at the main office on Monday, May 6th, between 7am and 12pm.
Cookie Bar: On Thursday, May 9th, we invite you to participate by either purchasing or baking cookies and treats for our teachers. Please drop off your contributions at the main office between 7am and 9am.

Gift Card Donation
We are excited to express our gratitude to our incredible Herndon MS Staff! We kindly ask for your support in contributing towards a gift card. We aim to purchase a variety of retail vendor gift cards, including ones for Amazon, Target, Outback, Starbucks, and more, to distribute to our teachers. Our goal is to provide a gift card for at least half of our teachers. Your donation will make a significant difference in showing our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
You may Venmo Melissa Morrison at @Melissa-Morrison-99 and comment "Teacher GC Donation".
Also, if you have any unused gift cards lying around that you'd be willing to donate to our HMS Staff, we would be extremely grateful. You can drop off the cards at the office either yourself or through your student by Friday, April 26th. Please ensure the card(s) are placed in an envelope labeled "PTA".

Herndon vs Langston Hughes Basketball Game
We will be having our Herndon vs Langston Hughes Basketball game tonight, which will take place at South Lakes HS (11400 South Lakes Drive Reston). Parents must accompany their student. Doors will open at 5:00pm.
Parents/caregivers may purchase their ticket online or at the door.
