Celebrating Our Heroes: The Purple Up Breakfast

Earlier this week, we hosted the Purple Up Breakfast, an event dedicated to our military-connected  children and families.  The color purple representing all military branches, filled the room with a sense of unity and solidarity.

The breakfast was more than a meal - it was a celebration of the strength and sacrifices of our military heroes.  The atmosphere was filled with joy, shared stories, and mutual respect, reminding us of the bonds within our community.

We express our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed  to the success of this event.  Your presence made a difference, and we look forward to more opportunities to honor our military-connected families.

ABA Family Training

Join other families for this Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training. ABA is a scientific approach to understanding behavior.  ABA refers to a set of principles that focus on how behaviors change, or are affected by the environment, as well as how learning takes place. Topics covered will include:

  • Ways you can get your child to demonstrate the same skills at home and in school
  • Strategies to get your child to do the things they do with you with other family members
  • How to promote learning and maintenance of skills across settings, materials and people.

All family members and caregivers are welcome to attend.  To register or to request an interpreter, contact Liane Sprunk at 571-423-4110 or email at lsprunk@fcps.edu at least two weeks in advance.  For questions, contact Tina Wilkerson by email at twilkerson@fcps.edu.

Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) School Health Services Internal Survey

The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) employs school health aides and public health nurses who provide school health services to the students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). To determine the quality of these services, a survey has been developed by the FCHD to be shared with all parents or guardians of FCPS students. Parents/guardians will be asked for feedback on the level of satisfaction with School Health services provided to the school community. The survey will be distributed electronically via FCPS This Week. The survey window is April 15 - April 26, 2024. Survey link: www.redcap.link/FCHDSchoolHealthSurvey.

Survey results will provide a basis for quality improvement of School Health services.
