Spring SEL Screener Results

Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March, providing updated information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.

In late April, individual student SEL Screener results will be available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.

For more information about the screener please visit the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage. For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or contact your student’s school.

Thank You Powell Community From Northern Virginia Conservation Trust!

Last month our Powell SCA and whole school community worked hard to raise money to protect habitat for blue herons in Northern Virginia.  While we didn’t reach our goal, we raised $7,855.76 for the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust which is an incredible amount!!  Their executive director wanted to thank our whole school community, and he made this YouTube video as a thank you.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxT2KocVhwM   The students will see the video on our CPNN Morning news program, but we wanted to make sure everyone involved had a chance to see it for themselves.  Thank you so much to our school community for helping our SCA make a difference in the world.

6th Grade Community Service

Our sixth-grade classes are conducting a shoe drive in partnership with Soles4Souls.  We are asking for donations of gently used shoes of all types to help reach our goal of 1500 shoes.  This week, sixth graders donated, sorted, and bagged 138 shoes.  We are off to a great start!  Please send your shoe donations to school with your CPES student or drop off large bags in the front office for 6th grade pickup.
