April is Autism Acceptance Month. This month we celebrate the amazing ways our students learn and grow! One in 44 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder in the United States, according to the CDC. We are excited to celebrate our diverse school population here at Lees Corner. We play a vital role in creating and ensuring inclusive environments that accommodate and affirm autistic students. Please join us in celebrating Autism Acceptance Week. If you'd like to participate please see this flyer for more details.
We love and celebrate our Lees Corner military families. We'll be celebrating them next week. Did you know that more than 14,000 military-connected youth call FCPS home? Join FCPS in celebrating them during Month of the Military Child. Wednesday, April 17, is Purple Up! Day, when all are encouraged to wear purple in recognition of the strength and sacrifices of military-connected youth. Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, a combination of Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red, and Navy blue.
