Olde Creek News

Admin Avenue

Dear Olde Creek Elementary Families,

Progress Reports are coming home in your child's Friday folder today. Some families may also receive attendance report cards alongside their progress reports.

These reports offer a snapshot of your child's recent performance. If you have any questions or want to discuss anything further, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.

We had a particularly exciting event this week as we all witnessed a glimpse of the solar eclipse during dismissal time! It was a wonderful opportunity to explore the wonders of science firsthand and create a memory that will last a lifetime.

April is a month rich with cultural recognition, including Autism Acceptance Month, Month of the Military Child, School Library Month, National Arab American Heritage Month, and Muslim American Heritage Month. Please see below for more information about these important observances.

As we head into next week, remember to check out our upcoming events calendar for more ways to get involved at school. Here's to a season of growth, exploration, and of course, plenty of smiles!

Sincerely,

Courtney, Alison and Stephanie

Woodson Art Shows

Woodson

The Woodson High School Fine Arts Department is excited to invite the Woodson community to our annual art shows!

The Pyramid Art Show, which includes work from our elementary, middle, and high school students, opens on Tuesday, April 16. We will have a reception from 6-8pm in Cav Hall. Come on by to see what our K-11 artists have created this year!

On Thursday, April 18 from 6-8pm we will be celebrating our senior students at the Senior Art Show - our seniors’ culminating shows! Our upper-level senior artists have curated collections of their finest works and are looking forward to sharing this work with their families, friends, and community. We are so proud of our students and excited for them to have this special opportunity to share their work.

In between enjoying the artwork at both shows, visitors can bring home small, student-made artworks that will be for sale and bid on our famous hand-painted furniture.

Our students have worked so hard to hone their art-making skills and create these works. They (and we!) would be so honored to welcome you to one (or both!) of these events.

HelpNeeded

Cafeteria Volunteers Needed

Make lunchtime a breeze for our busy students! We're looking for friendly faces to join our cafeteria volunteer crew.

Flexible on your time? We have volunteer opportunities all the way through May! Sign up for a 30 minute block, an hour, a whole day, or anything in between. Visit our SignUp Genius link to find a slot that fits your schedule!

What you'll do:

  • Help supervise the lunchroom during busy times.
  • Lend a hand opening lunch boxes and packages for younger students.
  • Ensure students are following OC's PAWS Expectations.
  • Assist with cleanup after lunch is finished.

The benefits?

  • See your child's smiling face during their lunch break!
  • Meet other parents and become part of the school community.
  • Make a positive impact on a busy part of the school day.

Together, we can make lunchtime a fun and positive experience for all our students!

Reminder: Birthday Treats

Here's a friendly reminder that due to allergies and dietary restrictions, we can't accept food treats for birthday celebrations in class or the cafeteria. We encourage families to celebrate your child's special day at school:

  • Donate a Book: Gift a new book to our classroom library in your child's honor. They can pick it out with you, and their classmates will enjoy reading it for years to come!
  • Non-Edible Goodies: Send in small trinkets, pencils, stickers, or other fun items for your child to share with their classmates!

We want to make sure every student feels included, safe, and celebrated on their birthday.

Parent Input Form for 2024-25 Class Placement

With the end of the year quickly approaching, we are already looking ahead to next year. While we look at class placements for the coming year, we ask for your input and if there is pertinent information to support your child’s success. We cannot honor requests for specific teachers. Parent input forms are due by May 17, 2024. We value your feedback and insight into your child’s learning needs. Thank you for your input.
