The Book Fair Information

This year Kings Park will host its annual Spring Book Fair from April 12th – April 19th. Set up on the 9th. Family night will be April 16th 4:00-6:30pm.

If you or your child are purchasing books from the book fair, we encourage you to bring a reusable bag to carry your purchases.

We are still seeking the help of volunteers to help set up and take down our book fair as well as assist students as they shop throughout the week. If you are able to volunteer your time for our fair please sign up here.

Students who wish to purchase books will have the opportunity to shop at a given time each day from April 15th – April 19th as well as during their library time that week.

We are encouraging families to set up eWallets for students to shop cash free. These can be set up on our fair homepage. This way students and parents do not have to worry about keeping track of cash and change during the school day. Please note that any unused funds loaded in an eWallet will convert to an eGift card at the end of the Book Fair for use at the Online Scholastic Store.

Family Input for Class Placements 2024-2025

As we begin to plan for the 2024-2025 school year, we are inviting your input. Creating class assignments requires careful consideration and the involvement of many perspectives. We know a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success. Should you have additional information about your specific child that school staff may not know, particularly regarding learning style and classroom environment; we ask that you please complete the Family Input Form no later than Monday, May 13, 2024.

If you have more than one child attending KPES, please complete one form per child.  We ask that you do not request specific teachers or friendship pairings and keep the information shared about your child and the type of learning environment you feel would be the most productive for him/her/them. We assure you that with or without a form, each child’s strengths and needs are considered. As in the past, families will receive class placement notification just prior to school starting.

April is the Month of the Military Child

April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognize children from military families for their contributions and sacrifices. We recognize that children serve too! Fairfax County Public Schools is proud to have over 14,000 military-connected youth in our student body. We appreciate the varied life experiences they bring to our school community and recognize their strength and resilience. Kings Park ES invites you to recognize our military connected children during April, the month of the military child. Interested in learning more about military students and how to support them? Check out this calendar of daily activities for the month of April.

Purple Up! Wed April 17th

In FCPS, one of the most visible displays of support for military-connected youth occurs on Purple Up! Day, a day dedicated to showing appreciation by wearing purple – to represent the combined colors of branches of the military.  Please join KPES and FCPS for Purple Up! Day on April 17, 2024, as we proudly wear purple to honor our military connected students.
