Good afternoon, Fox Mill Families,
Ms. Moran’s class got to meet former astronaut, John David Bartoe, today. He is the great grandfather of two of our wonderful students. Mr. Bartoe’s mission to space was in 1985.
We would like to extend a huge thank you for all your support thus far for the 2023-2024 school year. It is hard to believe that we have journeyed more than halfway through the school year, faced the winter, smiled at a tease of warm weather for a couple of days and now spring break has arrived!

Happy Spring Break! We hope everyone enjoys their time off and gets plenty of rest as we have a busy April ahead. Before we get there though, we have the Challenge, tonight at 5:30 at South Lakes High School. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Lost and Found
Our collection of coats and hoodies is growing. The lost and found is located in the cafeteria. Stop by any time to take a look. We go through the items and reunite our students with anything that is labeled. Please take a moment to write your student's name in their outerwear and lunch boxes with a Sharpie.

Believe it or not, the Rachel Carson PTA is already planning for the 2024-2025 school year! Are you or is someone you know enthusiastic about supporting Rachel Carson and all its students, teachers, and staff? We are soliciting nominations for several positions that will be open next year including:
- President
- Recording Secretary
- VP of Fundraising and Social Events
- Membership Chair
- Basketball Chair
- Multicultural Night Chair
- STEAM Night Chair
Current Board members will assist new members with the transition. Please email rcmspta.pres@gmail.com if you are interested or know of someone who would make a great addition to our team!
Updated Covid Recommendations
In accordance with the updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) respiratory virus guidance, FCPS and the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) have updated school COVID-19 recommendations.
The COVID-19 isolation period of five days is no longer recommended.
New respiratory virus guidance applies to respiratory viral illnesses, including COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Students who have symptoms of, test positive for, or have been diagnosed with a respiratory virus may return to school when the student is fever-free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication; AND the student’s symptoms have improved or resolved.
Students should follow additional precautions as outlined per the CDC upon resumption of normal activities.
On behalf of all our teachers and staff, we hope that this Spring Break, March 25- 29th, 2024, you will take the time with your family to reflect and relax.
When we return April 3rd, please be reminded that we will be preparing for our end of year Standards of Learning Assessments (SOLs). Please continue to monitor our school’s website for test dates. Also please inform us of planned absences on those days.
