Principals' Message

Dear GBW Families,

We are excited to announce that GBW has organized an educational opportunity for students to observe the partial Solar Eclipse on Monday (4/8/24). Our PTA will be providing special ISO certified glasses for the event. The Solar Eclipse is a fascinating celestial event where the moon will partially block the Sun's light, creating a partial eclipse.

If you would like your child to participate in this event, please complete this Form:

***For families that do not want your child to participate, no action is needed.is placeholder text.

Eid al-Fitr April 10

Eid al-Fitr, also known as small Eid, marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims congregate that morning for Eid prayers. It is a time of official receptions and private visits, when friends greet one another, presents are given, new clothes are worn, and the graves of relatives are visited. The most common way to wish someone a Happy Eid al-Fitr is Eid Mubarak, which means “blessed feast” (or festival).

April is the Month of the Military Child! Every year we take the opportunity to recognize military-connected youth for their service and contribution to our community. Fairfax County Public Schools is proud to have over 14,000 military-connected youth as a part of our student body. We appreciate the varied life experiences they bring to our school community, and recognize their strength and resilience. Spring SOL Testing Schedule

As we approach the month of May, we want to remind everyone about the upcoming SOL (Standards of Learning) testing for our Pandas. These assessments provide valuable insights into their progress and areas for growth.

Here are the testing dates for each grade level:

We encourage families to ensure that students are on time on the days of their testing. If you know your child is going to be late or absent on a testing date, please let their teacher know as soon as possible.

Let's rally together as a community to support our students as they tackle the SOL tests. Together, we can help them succeed and reach their full potential. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our schools.

Best wishes to all students participating in the SOL testing!

If you have any questions please reach out and let us know,
