Therapy Dog Harper & Ms. Laura visited OES on Monday. Harper enjoyed meeting some new friends, getting lots of pets, and hearing some great readers.
We are looking forward to having him visit again in April.

SOL Schedule
Our Standards of Learning (SOL) tests are approaching.
These assessments measure the extent to which students have learned the content and skills reflected in state standards. The content tested varies by grade level. See below for the scheduled dates this Spring.
Grade 3:
- 📖 Reading: Wednesday, May 7
- 🧮 Math: Wednesday, May 14
Grade 4:
- 📖 Reading: Wednesday, May 9
- 🧮 Math: Wednesday, May 22
Grade 5:
- ⌨️Integrated Reading & Writing: Monday, April 15
- ✨New this year: Students taking the Grade 5 SOL Reading test will complete an integrated reading and writing (IRW) component. The IRW component has one non-fiction reading passage followed by 4-6 multiple-choice/technology-enhanced items and an “invitation to write” based on the passage.

Grade 6:

☀️ Safely View the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8
A total solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, and will be viewable, depending on weather, in Fairfax County. The eclipse will begin in our area around 2:04 p.m. and end around 4:32 p.m., with the maximum eclipse occurring around 3:20 p.m.
Because the timing overlaps with dismissal, it is crucial that students understand the importance of safe viewing practices. We encourage families to review these Solar Eclipse Resources, especially the eye safety information. We hope everyone takes the opportunity to learn more about this extraordinary natural phenomenon while prioritizing safe solar viewing.
