Scholastic book fair

The Book Fair Is Back!

This year Kings Park will host its annual Spring Book Fair from April 12th – April 19th. Set up on the 9th.

Our fair would not be possible without the support of our amazing volunteers. We are seeking the help of volunteers to help set up and take down our book fair as well as assist students as they shop throughout the week. If you are able to volunteer your time for our fair please sign up here.

Students who wish to purchase books will have the opportunity to shop at a given time each day from April 15th – April 19th as well as during their library time that week.

We are encouraging families to set up eWallets for students to shop cash free. These can be set up on our fair homepage. This way students and parents do not have to worry about keeping track of cash and change during the school day. Please note that any unused funds loaded in an eWallet will convert to an eGift card at the end of the Book Fair for use at the Online Scholastic Store.

Principal Evaluation Feedback Form

On Monday, March 18, Kings Park ES parents/guardians will be sent an email containing a link to complete the online FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form. This questionnaire is part of the VDOE-mandated Performance Evaluation Program for principals and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include how the principal demonstrates/impacts instructional leadership, school climate, management, communication and community relations, culturally responsive and equitable leadership, and professionalism within the school.

The questionnaire will be administered between March 18 and April 5. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your feedback matters!

Family Engagement Survey

The Family Engagement survey is designated to gather data to further inform implementation of the 2023-30 Strategic Plan. Nine language translations of the survey will be made available, including Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Pashtu, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese. Families can access the link through their computer, phones, or hard copies as requested from the school.

Here is also the link for more information on the survey: Family Engagement Survey 2023-24 | Fairfax County Public Schools (fcps.edu)

Elementary Institute for the Arts

Students in all FCPS schools can enroll in the Elementary Institute for the Arts. IFTA is a weekly Arts enrichment program for students in rising 3rd through 6th grades during the month of July. Students take classes in Art, Music, Theatre, and Dance every day. Transportation is provided from around the county. Tuition assistance is available for students who qualify. Check out the Elementary Institute for the Arts website for more information or email eifta@fcps.edu.

Snack Donations

We are continuing to accept bulk packs of individual serving snack donations such as Goldfish, Pretzels, Pirates Booty, Popcorn, Teddy Grahams, Fruit Bars, Granola Bars, Cereal Bars, Applesauce Pouches etc.. These can be labeled Attention: School Counselor.

PTA News

We are looking for new PTA board members for the 2024-25 school year.  Please reach out to board@kpkgpta.org if you are interested in learning more about being involved with the PTA.  We are specifically seeking a VP, Education and Community Outreach, and a VP, Fundraising.

Our next Spirit Night is taking place TONIGHT (March 19th) at Wendy’s (6056 Burke Commons Rd). In-person or drive-thru orders only - must bring or show flier.

Planning for our PTA Wellness Fair on April 11th at KP from 6:30-8pm is in full swing - formerly advertised as “PTA Family Fitness Night”, we have rebranded to encompass many more “health” aspects.  Come explore the 3 zones (healthy bodies, healthy minds, and healthy earth), and interact with local community resources for healthier families.  All attendees will receive a free gift and have a chance to win prizes; the Judy makes Juice truck will be onsite offering a variety of juices, smoothies, & healthy food options.

We have reopened our Spiritwear store until April 21st.  Current students can ship to their school for free, or ship to your home (free for orders $50+).  Get ready for a new school year now with some fresh spiritwear!  (...time to get your KG gear if you’ll be a rising 4th grader!!)

Planning has also begun for our annual Earth Day event on April 27th at KG.  Please reach out to us at volunteer@kpkgpta.org if you are interested in being part of any planning committees!

Join us for a thrilling night of soccer at Audi Field on June 1st as Kings Park and Kings Glen come together to support DC United! Tickets start at just $25, and by using this special link, you guarantee you'll be sitting with other KP/KG families for the game.
