Haycock Family Liaison

My name is Paulette Farmakides and I am the new family liaison at Haycock Elementary School. I appreciate Haycock's cultural diversity and work to foster unity, cohesiveness, and cooperation among all families. I speak English and Greek.

Family liaisons work in the schools and community to help families get the information and assistance they need to support their children and to ensure their academic success. The family liaisons represent a variety of cultures, languages, and races. Family liaisons will welcome and orient families who are new to the school and community and help them understand the school's culture, policies, procedures, and practices. They can also help connect families to resources in the community. Family liaisons might also assist a family in transitioning to a new school and encourage family-school partnerships to help ensure their student's success and healthy development.

Month of the Military Child

April is the Month of the Military Child!

Every year we take this opportunity to celebrate our military-connected children and thank them for their service as part of a military family.  Purple Up! Day is on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

Month of the Military Child Calendar 2024

  • There are more than 1.2 million school-aged United States military-connected children.
  • More than 40% of active-duty service members have children.
  • On average, children in military families move six to nine times during their K-12 school career. That’s about three times more frequently than their civilian peers.
  • Military children are twice as likely as their civilian counterparts to join the military as adults.
  • Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger was responsible for establishing April as the Month of The Military Child in 1986, and the Department of Defense has honored his initiative ever since.
  • In 2011, the University of New Hampshire 4-H started the “Purple Up! For Military Kids” initiative and is now celebrated
