Message from the Principal

Dear Wakefield Forest Families,

Today we wrapped up the third quarter with an awesome Mad Science assembly and ended our day with our celebratory "Drop Everything and Dance" to Meghan Trainor's Better When I'm Dancing. We end each quarter by having the students dance out and celebrate all they have accomplished. This is a fun way for them to reflect and be joyful for all of their hard work.

This quarter we:

  • engaged our students in building resiliency through mindfulness
  • celebrated VA History in 4th grade
  • hosted the PTA Spelling Bee
  • celebrated our military connected students with a breakfast
  • learned at Family Culture Night
  • saw incredible gains in student learning

We are grateful to be part of a strong and engaged school community, with staff who care deeply about the work they do each day.

We wish you a restful Spring Break.

Fondly,

Sharyn Prindle

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!

Pictures of students arranged in a half circle around the FCPS logo - budget

This year, spring break is March 25-29. We will be eager to welcome your children back to school on Wednesday, April 3, after two teacher work days. Student attendance is very important. Every day, our teachers will be teaching, and students will be learning. Studies have shown that just two absences per month can cause students to fall behind. Let’s finish this school year strong. Visit FCPS’ website for attendance resources

FCPS Family Engagement Survey

fam eng

The Family Engagement Survey closes TODAY, FRIDAY, March 22nd! Please continue to support this important outreach however you can and encourage families to complete it. Every time you meet with a family ask if they have completed the survey and if they haven't help them do so. If you're able, take pictures of your outreach efforts and send them to Dr. Jackson to share with leadership at the completion of the survey period. If your families cannot find the email with their link, please share the public link with them:  https://bit.ly/FCPS2024FESurvey.

☀️ Safely View the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8

A total solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, and will be viewable, depending on weather, in Fairfax County. The eclipse will begin in our area around 2:04 p.m. and end around 4:32 p.m., with the maximum eclipse occurring around 3:20 pm.

The PTA generously purchased approved solar eclipse glasses for students and staff so we can participate in a viewing. Teachers will review information about the eclipse and safety prior to the viewing. If you do not want your child to participate, please email your child's teacher.

Because the timing overlaps with dismissal, it is crucial that students understand the importance of safe viewing practices. We encourage families to review these Solar Eclipse Resources, especially the eye safety information. We hope everyone takes the opportunity to learn more about this extraordinary natural phenomenon while prioritizing safe solar viewing.
