Halley’s Parent Engagement Session #2:

An Introduction to Executive Functioning

Thursday, March 21st from 7:00 – 7:45

An Introduction to Executive Function Skills and

Their Impact on School Success

“Pay attention!”

“Wait for your turn!”

“Do your homework!”

These commands may sound simple, but for children whose young brains are still developing, they may not be simple at all. In fact, completing each of these tasks requires a complex system of social, emotional, and biological abilities known as executive function skills that don’t fully develop until many years beyond elementary school.

Come to this virtual session presented by FCPS Family Engagement Region Representative Melanie Crosby Hardy to learn more, including how you can help build these important skills in your child!

SOL Testing Dates for Halley

Each Spring, students in grades 3-6 take the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) tests in Reading and Math.  Students in Grade 5 also take an Integrated Reading and Writing SOL and a Science SOL.

Dates for this year’s SOL tests are listed below. Please work to avoid appointments on these days so that students can test on the same day as their peers.  The helps ensure students do their best.
