Dear Willow Springs Families,

This was another active & energy filled week of learning and growing together at the fox den. We all enjoyed the terrific weather this week and the opportunity to have outdoor recess every day. This week we had a fire drill and next week we will have a tornado drill. Today both our SCA and our WFOX New Team had meetings with their student leaders and members.

Today was an especially fun filled day as we geared up for Spirit Night tonight. Staff members wore their jerseys and student were deciding if they were going to cheer on Team Fox or Team Willow. The great news is that we are ALL winners just by showing up and having fun together. We hope to see MANY of you tonight at Chantilly High School. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the game starts at 6:30 PM. See you soon!

We wish all of our families a wonderful weekend filled with positive energy. Thank you for sending us your best every day! #WillowPride

🧘Meditation and Reflection Spaces

FCPS has created a regulation to ensure all students and staff have reasonable accommodation and access to meditation and silent reflection spaces within the school division. Regulation 1502: Expectations for Meditation and Silent Reflection Space Accommodations provides guidance for schools on how to manage requests for silent reflection during instructional and non-instructional time and for students to leave school for religious activities.

These spaces are designated areas within a school or on school premises for individuals to engage in prayer, meditation, or silent reflection, inclusive of their religious or non-religious beliefs. Parents/caregivers must provide written permission for students requesting to miss instructional time on a regular basis. View Regulation 1502 for more information.

SOL Testing Dates

Every spring, students across the state of Virginia in grades 3-12 take Standards of Learning (SOL) tests to assess their learning. Elementary school students take reading and math tests starting in 3rd grade and continuing every year through 6th grade. In addition, 5th grade students take a science test. The expectation from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is that all students in grades 3-12 will participate in SOL testing every spring. Testing begins in May and is completed in June.

Testing dates and Information can be found on the Willow Springs Website.
