#EveryChildEveryDay ❤️
Thanks to the PTA, students enjoyed a whirlwind tour of global music with Curtis Blues' Cultural Arts Assembly. Through interactive performances, students learned how instruments like the banjo, guitar, and percussion all play a role in the music we love today. This assembly was a fantastic reminder of how cultures around the world inspire and influence each other!
A big thank you to Ms. Rahman for joining her sons' kindergarten and 2nd-grade classes and sharing her experiences about Ramadan! Students learned about the importance of this month and gained a deeper appreciation for different cultures. Ms. Rahman's visit reminds us all of the value in understanding and celebrating the traditions of our classmates and neighbors.
Naval Aircrewman Sean Siner, stationed in Norfolk, VA, shares his military experiences with the Little Run Military Kids Club. Joined by his wife and son, Mr. Siner captivated the audience with tales from his service. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his dedication and sacrifice to our country. Mr. Siner is the brother-in-law of Assistant Principal Hassen, further highlighting the strong bonds within our community.
A Message from the Admin Team
Dear Little Run Family,
This week has been a delight, filled with sunshine and a warm breeze that brought a touch of spring to our halls. It's a perfect reminder that brighter days are ahead!
We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated PTA for sponsoring a fantastic cultural arts assembly on Wednesday. It was a vibrant and engaging experience for all our students, sparking curiosity and appreciation for different cultures.
On a different note, Friday brought a heartwarming moment to our Military Kids Club. Assistant Principal Hassen's brother-in-law, Naval Aircrewman Sean Siner, visited the club and shared his experiences. Mr. Siner's presentation resonated deeply with our military-connected students, fostering a sense of connection and shared understanding. The presentation culminated in a touching moment where a student presented Mr. Siner with a thank you card, and in return, Mr. Siner presented the student with a patch from his uniform – a cherished token of appreciation.
Looking ahead, next week promises to be a blast with spirit week kicking off! Get ready for some Little Run spirit, and excitement as we build anticipation for the upcoming Spring Break.
And to keep the momentum going, we hope to see everyone out on Sunday at noon as the George Mason softball team takes on Dayton! It's Youth Day, so wear your green for St. Patrick's Day and join the fun! The Mason softball team invites all their fans to celebrate with post-game autographs, poster giveaways, running of the bases, AND free t-shirts to the first 200 fans! It's sure to be a fantastic afternoon of family fun.
We wish you a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Christie Yarn, Principal
Lesley Hassen, Assistant Principal

🖍️ It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!
Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Our school typically conducts kindergarten registration events, including orientation, throughout the school year. Eligible children can also be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps us plan, so that we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.
Prepare for registration by gathering documents and completing forms. We are happy to support families with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For more information in other languages, visit FCPS’ Kindergarten Registration webpage.
Fairfax County’s Funding of the FCPS Budget
The average amount of funds transferred from Fairfax County to FCPS was 52.6% of county disbursements from fiscal years (FY) 2019-2023. It dipped to 51.6% in FY 2024. The County’s budget proposal for next year would transfer 51.4% of total disbursements.
If the county were to return to transferring 52.6% to FCPS for the upcoming year, that would equate to $63 million more to invest in excellence.

🩹 Measles Is Preventable
Measles is making headlines as the number of cases nationwide has topped 40, with three confirmed cases in people living in or traveling through the National Capital Region.
The good news is that measles is preventable through vaccination! Vaccines help teach the immune system how to defend against germs, helping to build up natural defenses. Give your child the best protection against measles with two doses of the Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) vaccine. Visit the Fairfax County Health Department website to find out more about measles.
Extended Hours at Immunization Clinics
To help parents/caregivers obtain vaccinations for their children, the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) will offer immunization clinics with extended hours:
Parents/caregivers should make an appointment but a limited number of walk-ins will be accepted. Please call 703-246-7100 to schedule an appointment.
Learn more about vaccinating your child and find community resources to support their health and well-being.
Note: All students enrolling in public and private schools in Virginia are required to be adequately immunized per the Code of Virginia.
🏅 Nominations Open for First Class Award for Inclusion
The Advisory Committee for Students with Disabilities (ACSD) is seeking nominations for the First Class Awards. The ACSD will recognize award winners at the Family Summit on Saturday, April 20.
