Dear Westbriar Families:

We're bursting with pride for our amazing Westbriar students who excel both within and outside the classroom! Let's celebrate two outstanding achievements:

  • Chess Champion: Huge congratulations to Emin Baim, a 5th grader, who recently became the 2024 Virginia State K-5 Chess Champion! Emin represented Westbriar at the Virginia State Scholastic Chess Championship and took home first place. He'll now go on to compete against other state champions in the USA Chess Championship. We're so impressed as this is the first time in our school history to have a 1st place State Chess champion, congratulations Emin!

  • Odyssey of the Mind Champions: Big applause for Coach/Parent Kathleen (Katie) Yuan and her team of Westbriar ES students who secured First Place at the Odyssey of the Mind Nova North/South Regional Tournament on March 2nd! This marks the second year in a row that a Westbriar team has advanced to the State Tournament. The winning team, consisting of 5th graders Violet Dulaney, Alexandra (Ally) Hiu, Adiya Nagashybek, and Zere Nagashybek, and 3rd graders Riya Chenthitta, Sloane Dulaney, and Isabella (Via) Lee, competed in the Vehicle Category. The State Tournament will be held at Tuscorora High School in Leesburg, VA on April 6th. We're cheering you on 3rd and 5th graders!

Korean Immersion Program Update:

We wanted to provide an update on the proposed Korean Immersion Program for Westbriar ES next year. After careful consideration of various factors, it has been decided to hold off on implementing the program at this time. However, we remain committed to exploring World Language opportunities in the future. The school community will be informed of any upcoming developments. Thank you for your participation and patience throughout this process.
