A Message from Ms. Laxton, Fort Belvoir Upper Principal

Dolphin Families,

This was a very busy week here at Fort Belvoir Upper School.  On Tuesday, our Student Ambassadors met with some very special guests- Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid and Garrison Commander Joseph Messina!  They were here to film a Public Service Announcement to recognize April as the Month of the Military Child!  These students got to be a part of the video and play some basketball with these community leaders.  Look for the full video to come out soon, but in the meantime enjoy these snapshots of the morning.

Take a look at the flier to save the date for some fun events coming soon.  We would love to see parents join our amazing military kids for breakfast on April 5th or 12th at 9:00 in our cafeteria.  There will be a photo booth set up to capture the morning as well.

Our staff has challenged Lorton Station Elementary School to a basketball game on April 12th as well.  Please plan to cheer us on at 6:00 in Mount Vernon High School's gymnasium.  This event is free and will be a fun evening- hope to see you all there!

FCPS Family Engagement Survey

We are asking families to participate - your feedback is critical in helping to inform and improve practices to best support our students. Taking this survey will also help strengthen the partnership between your family and our school. When that partnership is strong, students can experience a range of benefits including improved school readiness, higher student achievement, better social skills and behavior, and an increased likelihood of graduating high school. The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete and will be available in 10 languages. Please visit the Family Engagement Survey webpage for more information. The survey closes on March 22nd. Your voice matters!

Elementary Institute for the Arts

Students in all FCPS schools can enroll in the Elementary Institute for the Arts. IFTA is a weekly Arts enrichment program for students in rising 3rd through 6th grades during the month of July. Students take classes in Art, Music, Theatre, and Dance every day. Transportation is provided from around the county. Tuition assistance is available for students who qualify. Check out the Elementary Institute for the Arts website for more information or email eifta@fcps.edu.

 FCPS Cares!

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees at Fort Belvoir Upper ES. We love our FBES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!
