A Note From Mrs. Duffy

Dear Bush Hill Community,

Happy First Day of Spring! There are lots of things to celebrate this week as we prepare for Spring Break.

Last week, Ms. Gomes attended the Springfield Area Band Concert at Lewis High School. Several of our students and our band directors participated in this concert, which was a culmination of months of practice! Ms. Gomes shared that it was evident that each student poured their heart and soul into their instruments and mastering the challenging pieces they performed. Their teamwork, focus, and musicality were a joy to witness. A huge part of our students' success goes to our band teacher, Mr. Sorenson. His skillful instruction was instrumental (pun intended) in preparing our students for this performance. Congratulations to the following students who performed in this concert:  Eleanor Bates, Joshua Giles, Aaron Ruf, Alan Cheshmedjiev Caleb Foerst, Diego Funes, Ephratah Hulunem, Eric Araya-Porras, Helen Beyene, Isabella Menendez, Katherine Martinez, Katherine Currence, Olivia O'Grady, Cole Ratzer, Aman Tesfayesus, and Angela Chen.

Ms. Blackburn, our STEAM teacher, has been working with students to clean up our garden beds and prepare our pollinator garden for spring. We are already starting to see plants grow and we love that our students are continuing to contribute to the beautification of our school grounds - while learning about the plant life cycle! Ms. Blackburn is also busy preparing our students for the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8th. Students are learning about the solar eclipse in her classroom each week and preparing tools to safely view the eclipse. We are looking for volunteers to help facilitate our Solar Eclipse Festival on April 8th. Please be sure to sign up here. You can also help our students enjoy the eclipse by sending in any shoe boxes you have laying around the house!

Last week, we recognized all of our Odyssey of the Mind teams and their members which contained a typo. I apologize and want to recognize Everett Suarez for his participation in Bush Hill's Odyssey of the Mind program this year!

I hope you all have an enjoyable spring break!

Building A Legacy - One Brick At A Time

A Bush Hill ES Fundraiser

Consider making your student or loved one’s legacy permanent at Bush Hill Elementary School by purchasing a brick to be placed on our brick path between Door 3 and Door 5. The bricks will be placed there among the other legacy bricks. We have two brick options to choose from. Bricks purchased now until May 24, 2024, will be laid in late summer 2024. Bricks purchased after May 24th, 2024, will be laid by Spring of 2025. All profits raised will be used to support professional development for staff, student events, materials and supplies for Bush Hill ES.
